#TrumpIndicted on federal charges!!It’s significant that Trump, who’s always declared himself above the law & transformed the GOP & its base into a party of fascist lawlessness & violence– culminating in the Jan 6 coup attempt – faces serious charges & multiple investigations 1/7

The joy at the prospect of seeing this fascist criminal face any accountability, for anything & the hunger to see him behind bars is righteous. It reflects an enormous reservoir of popular sentiment that could be turned into necessary action to change history #TrumpIndictment 2/7

But we must not pin our hopes on a mechanism that cannot and will not address the reasons we so badly want to see Trump locked up.
Now is a time for vigilance, not complacency. #TrumpIndictment 3/7

This fascist mvmnt has barely been named in the media, much less repudiated by a mass mvmnt of millions standing up against it. It is a vicious 21st century🇺🇸 fascism – in the most powerful & dangerous nation in the🌎 that’s been normalized & accommodated for over 7 yrs now. 4/7

Every crisis Trump & his fascist party gets through strengthens the U.S. fascist movement, leaving a core of battle-tested and even more dangerous, genocidal, revanchist lunatics in power to set the terms for all of society. #TrumpIndictment 5/7

We must not be lulled into submission by this or future indictments and prosecutions of Trump. Whether or not Trump is able to remain the GOP presidential candidate, this indictment cannot and will not stop this fascist movement. That is up to us. 6/7

It’s critical right now to spread the understanding of this fascist movement to the millions who righteously want to see Trump behind bars, & to actively oppose this fascism in every sphere of life.

Make no mistake. The Oklahoma #abortion ban is a Christian fascist bridge between #SB8 in Texas & the expected overturning of Roe v. Wade later this spring. This is not just any abortion ban. A thread.

Besides its extreme viciousness, this ban closes off one avenue of relief for women in Texas, who have fled the state to seek abortions in neighboring states. Think about how the Fugitive Slave Act attacked the means of enslaved people to reach safety.

These #SB8 copycat laws, each state trying to outdo the other in its violent subjugation of women, are designed to do no less. And these Christian fascists will not stop. They will figure out every workaround & criminalize them even more viciously.

This Regime makes a mockery of truth, they are foreclosing the right to dissent, and they trample over the rule of law. They have been relentless — and they aim for a full clampdown. Trump and Pence will not give up and neither will the millions who support the fascist program.

The fascists have their people in the courts and even if the courts should rule against them, they may well defy the courts. And if Trump IS able to stay, he will almost certainly not only take revenge but try to make a further huge leap toward all-out fascism. #CivilWar2
