🚨Interesting development on the Pylos shipwreck this morning with this piece by @jeansouliotis. A source in the @HCoastGuard said that one of their vessels attempted to tie rope to the migrant boat off Pylos on Tuesday evening. (THREAD) 🧡#Πύλος
kathimerini.gr/society/562473…
The @HCoastGuard does not deny the rope incident, they they don't call it an attempt to tow the migrant boat. Interestingly, the @HCoastGuard did not mention this incident in its detailed timeline of events that was published on Wednesday.
The source tells @jeansouliotis that they used the rope in an attempt to control the circumstances inside the boat, ie to try to stabilize it. Not sure using a rope at an overcrowded boat is a good way to do this though. Definitely not a wise move especially when it comes from...
an actor that has been repeatedly accused of carrying out migrant #pushbacks. The initial timeline of events by @HCoastGuard has a totally different picture around the time of the rope incident (2300 GR time). It was saying that "a Coast Guard vessel had sailed from Crete...
and approached the fishing boat. It remained at a distance and discreetly observed it, not finding any problem in its navigation, as it had a steady course and speed." So the vessels, according to the new narrative was not "at a distance, discreetly observing" but ...
it was physically engaged with the fishing vessel. According to the @Kathimerini article, the Coast Guard was close enought to use their headlights and observe the fishing boat. Why does the @HCoastGuard contradict with its previous timeline of events?
And, at the end of the day, why did they decide to use a rope? How could it stabilize an already volatile situation? Just some thoughts and, as usual, the case of an answer that gives birth to more questions.

So, who really took this picture hours before the migrant boat capsized off #Pylos in #Greece?
A short #osint thread... 🧡 Image
@SARwatchMED shows below that the photo was taken from inside a P355GR coastal patrol vessel. Which is exactly the type of @HCoastGuard vessel ΛΣ-920. That vessel left from Crete on Tuesday and approached the migrant boat.

According to the initial timeline of events (published by @HCoastGuard ) the LS-920 remained at a distance & discreetly observed the migrant boat. But this photo is yet another proof of the close encounter the HCG had with the migrants. At night, using headlights & later a rope.

A thread with some more details on what we saw with @BBCkatyaadler & @jadominguez_a when we filmed the site of the Nord Stream explosions with the help of an underwater drone, including some unpublished pics & videos plus bits from the sonar. (1/17)
#nordstream #osint
Our main finding is that large sections of the pipeline have been blown off and moved great distances away from their original position. Our sonar data verifies the information published by the Nord Stream 1 consortium, that debris is spread over a large area. (2/17)
While we could find some small debris in the area, it was either in the scale of max a few kg, or very large. We saw no medium size debris.
Obvs we were there after the Swedish and German investigations. But we did pick up this piece of metal. (3/17)

I can now tweet about this rare moment when we find ourselves in the middle of a spy movie scene. We were at the #NordStream explosions site, inside πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ EEZ, when a Russian vessel approached the area.
A Danish spy plane soon arrived.
Photo through a pair of binoculars.
#osint
The Russian vessel was NEFRIT (IMO: 9297773) an Offshore Supply Ship that was built in 2004. She was there to conduct the Russian investigation of the site. The plane, likely a Bombardier Challenger CL-604 of the Royal Danish Air Force @RDAFRBLX. Here's the scene:
There were three more vessels nearby. Two Swedish ones and one Danish one, inside the Danish EEZ at a few miles' distance, if I'm not mistaken.
