GREECE V MAKARIOS 👇

After Makarios declared that EOKA-B were terrorists with direct orders from Greece, tensions increased further.

His decision to reduce the military and strengthen the police force was the final straw for Greece.

59 years since the Bloody Christmas massacres & Greek Cypriot coup of the Republic of Cyprus took place.

On this day, Turkish Cypriots began to be slaughtered and forced from their homes, villages and livelihoods.

Cyprus was divided in 1963, not 1974.

#BloodyChristmas1963
Less than 3 years after its establishment, the Greek Cypriot leadership had already become tired of sharing power with the Turkish Cypriots.

They’re hunger for Enosis had not subsided, and the genocidal Akritas Plan was created to ensure total dominance over the island.

The Bloody Christmas massacres were carried out during this time on purpose.

The Greek Cypriot leadership hoped that because it was Christmas, foreign reporters would not be present to record the mass killings of Turkish Cypriots.

In August 2022 @RishiSunak left a bitter taste in the mouths of Turkish Cypriots as his anti-Turkish letter to the so-called “Conservative Friends of Cyprus” was released to the public.

Now he is the UK’s Prime Minister…

#RishiSunak #PrimeMinister #TurkishCypriotsExist #Cyprus
In his letter, Sunak revealed his very misinformed and narrow minded view on the Cyprus issue. It was filled with historical falsehoods regarding the events of 1974 and a lack of awareness surrounding current issues such as Varosha and the drilling within the EEZ’s.

#RishiSunak
@BTCAOfficial The British Turkish Cypriot Association responded to @RishiSunak letter immediately after. However, the new Prime Minister never replied. Unfortunately this suggests his anti-Turkish views on the Cyprus issue are true…

Unfortunately, the trauma of missing persons in Cyprus has been used as a weapon by the Greek Cypriot administration to attack Türkiye and their legal intervention of 1974. It is important we reveal the true facts ⬇️

#CyprusMissingPersons #CyprusHistory #Cyprus
The majority of Greek Cypriots that are missing and presumed dead are a direct result of the Greek invasion of Cyprus that occurred on the 15th July 1974. The bulk of the missing persons figure is due to event thats took place before Türkiye even intervened…

US Ambassador Nelson Ledsky @USAmbCy @USEmbassyCyprus stated in 1991 that most of the Greek Cypriots that were killed, died as a result of Greek Cypriot in-fighting between supporters of Makarios and Sampson.

48 YEARS AGO TODAY❗️The military junta in Greece decided to invade and overthrow Greek Cypriot leader Makarios, all in the name ENOSIS. Please keep scrolling for a historical breakdown of events ⬇️ #GreekInvasionOfCyprus #2statesinCyprus
By this point the Greek Cypriots already had unilateral control over the island following the coup of 1963 and subsequent Bloody Christmas massacres. The Turkish Cypriots were isolated and enclaved. However, Makarios had did not fulfil his promise of Enosis…
In 1971, a Greek Cypriot civil war broke out with EOKA-B clashing with Makarios’s forces. Abductions and assassinations of the Greek Cypriot Left were a regular occurrence. The battle was for Greek annexation or an independent Greek Cypriot state…
