3/“I write to you, GOARN experts & key tech'l experts team for epidemic response, to appeal for getting consensus & taking action to combat & contain COVID-19 right away, b/c there will be no more time for further arguing & discussion on how we should deal with this global threat
4/ "...the global epidemic is coming just before all of us.
We have no more time but to response right away.
5/ "I am astonished when I read from the web-news that Italy will adjust its policy that to do less samples so that they will not report so many cases to avoid public panic which said being followed the suggestion of ECDC.
6/ “I am astonished that Japanese Gov't said they will only focus on the treatment of serious patients, and they will limit the tests only for the samples that would meet the "criteria", and it seems that the international community have no objection and suggestions with that.
7/ “I am astonished that int’l experts are still arguing & discussing again & again on how to prepare, what is good strategy, what is the best measures,
8/ "...but just hesitate for prompt response, after int’l expert teams has completed long-enough-time in inspection & summarized what has happened in China… what has been achieved there.
9/ “I am astonished that the arguing and discussion may be still going on after the DG has issued very clear statement in the past two days, and the joint mission report for China has published on the WHO website.
10/“There's no time for arguing! There's no time for discussion!! There's no time for talking about preparation!!! It's the time for action!!!!
As DG said, ‘The epidemics in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy and the Republic of Korea demonstrate what this virus is capable of.’
11/ “’But this virus is not influenza. With right measures, it can be contained. That is one of key messages from China. "That suggests that containment is possible. ...many countries …have not reported a case for > 2 wks: Belgium, Cambodia, India, Philippines, Viet Nam
12/ “People may still say, it's impossible for all the other countries to follow model of China's strategies & measures, it's impossible for us to shutdown the city, shutdown factories, shutdown schools...
13/ "That's true, I would say it's a must for Wuhan … but for all other parts of China, it's not a must, it's only play a facilitating role. For the most key and useful strategy and measures for the control of COVID-19 in China is just like what DG request the world to do,
14/ "'Every country needs to be ready to detect cases early, to isolate patients, trace contacts, provide quality clinical care, prevent hospital outbreaks, and prevent community transmission.'
15/“I couldn't imagine what will happen in Wuhan, in Hubei Province, in China? As you can see, although China has done so much, so hard, & with so extraordinary efforts, Wuhan has reported 48557 confirmed cases, 2169 death, & there are still 6585 serious cases in hospitals…
16/“but Wuhan has a population of about 10 M, and China has a population of about 1.4 B. I couldn't image what will happen if the outbreak become a true global epidemic
17/ “I couldn't imagine why so many experts still think the COVID-19 is just something a little bit serious than Flu? is it just because they are global experts??
18/ "is it just because they think COVID-19 is something like flu??? if so, they will be the sinner of the world! they will be the sinner of the world people!!
19/“So do please stop arguing and discussion any more, but to guide the international community to take action right away, to guide every country to review if there is any hidden transmission there, to mobilize international efforts
20/”…to provide immediate support to ROK, Iran, Italy, where the medical system is on brim of or has already in disruption, to help them put all suspect patients in hospitals, ...
21/ "to identify all transmission route to find all close contacts of each suspect and confirmed cases, and to put all close contacts in quarantine for 14 days
22/
“Do please take action right away!!!
Best wishes,

23/ I found an article (next post) by Dr Ni. He nails it. How could we not see it? It wasn't COVID-Zero vs "Reality". It was countries bright and fierce enough to take a SARS Strategy, vs the lazy, privileged kids in the back of the class in the West who took a Flu Strategy.
24/ The correct response to a SARS2 pandemic was one based on a SARS response - aggressive containment. The West - stubborn, arrogant, lazy, tantruming over being called out for SARS1 errors - insisted on a flu response. With horrific, tragic results.
I forgot to note the date of Dr Ni's email to GOARN, begging the West to follow a SARS strategy and save lives, instead of insisting on managing SARS 2 like the flu.

In the fourth year of this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, no Canadian CMHO/PHO has yet acknowledged that SARS-CoV-2 is airborne and spreads like cigarette smoke.
As we struggle trying to make safe holiday plans with family again this year, I can't help but wonder about a parallel universe, where the early 2020 speech from leaders went like this:
"There is a strong chance SARS2 is airborne, like SARS1. Go about your business BUT PLEASE WEAR A MASK INDOORS, work from home, eat outdoors or near open windows & scale back large gatherings if possible ...
"Medical masks are plentiful, but not sufficient. We need to reserve the respirators we have for healthcare workers, as we work around the clock to increase Canadian N95 production. In meantime, please see this link on how to use a mask brace, which greatly increases protection.
In today’s press conference, I was upset to hear Dr Bonnie Henry misrepresent the seriousness of the pediatric flu and COVID situation. I am referring to the section of the press conference clipped here:
Below, I have provided the latest data from the national IMPACT network, showing record and climbing pediatric flu hospitalizations. There are reports that 3 children under the age of 10 died recently from complications of flu in BC.
