I was curious and looked into this further. If seamed like some chick got caught stealing and a security guard, who wants to be a cop, was on a power trip and was rude and legally ignorant, causing her to cry racism because she happens to be black.

Now, it looks more like this fat idiot was on a power trip and desperately wants to be a real cop, and just lies and cites fake laws and incorrect information to try to intimidate a customer.

The police eventually came and escorted her out, but to be clear about the things he was wrong about…

- He has no authority to detain or arrest her unless he witnessed her committing a felony or in the case of a property crime, he would’ve needed to personally witness her stealing (but I haven’t reviewed local laws for further details). As an aside, placing items in your pockets isn’t theft unless you attempt to leave the store without paying for them.

- He wouldn’t allow her to leave, but then told her she was trespassed and had to leave

- He said he trespassed her and if she didn’t leave, she’d be arrested and charged with a serious crime. Not only is it not a serious crime, but she isn’t criminally trespassed until an officer legally informs her that she is trespassed so she couldn’t be arrested or charged until that happened and she subsequently violated the order.

- The manager of the store allegedly stated that they didn’t tell him she was stealing and didn’t ask for her to be trespassed.

- He said she doesn’t have permission to record him. Not only does she not need his permission to record him in a public place, but he has a body cam and obviously should know this. Worth noting, he allegedly never turn his camera on during this entire incident.

Here are the other videos and updates from the incident… A few things for people ignorantly replying with comments demonstrating how little they understand about any of this…

- In Seattle, you cannot detain shoplifters, and loss prevention or security employees can only do so ONCE THEY EXIT the store.

- Walgreens, like other retail stores, is a public space, and as such, there is no expectation to privacy and you don’t need to get someone’s permission to film them.

- This security guard lied about his authority, threatened to call the police, then illegally detained her and refused to call the police unless she consented to an illegal search he had no authority to conduct.

- He lied about her being trespassed and he not only lacked the authority to trespass her, but it couldn’t be criminally actionable unless the police issued a trespass notice with the consent of store management.

- The lawyer for the woman claims the manager had already claimed they had no video of her stealing and they never directed the security guard as he claimed.

- The security guard was dressed to raid El Chapo’s compound with the feds, and committed several criminal acts by illegally detaining a woman, which is false imprisonment, and repeatedly lying about his authority and the law. Suggesting he was professional and was NOT on a power trip as a wannabe, is laughably absurd.

Seattle’s Retail Theft Program from the police not only outlines how this loss prevention agent’s behavior of illegal and improper, but it even explains that an officer won’t even be dispatched unless the person has an active extraditable warrant over $150.
