"Public health experts and advocates have long predicted that the state’s failure to reduce our incarcerated population would cost lives and hurt families. Nearly ten months into the #COVID19 crisis, far too little has been done to keep incarcerated people safe." — @rodnationn

FWD.us is releasing a new report, "Dismantling #DACA & Terminating #TPS: A Moral and Economic Disaster That Hurts All Americans" which highlights the devastating human economic & political consequences of Pres Trump's anti-immigrant agenda bit.ly/3j93DB7 Image
The new report is the first in a four-part series, which will detail voters’ overwhelming rejection of these policies.

Broad public support for DACA recipients and TPS holders has been galvanized by the courageous advocacy of the people most severely impacted by these policies.
Numerous national polls have made clear that Americans of all backgrounds - including President Trump’s own supporters - are strongly supportive of immigrants and immigration, and even more so now than when he took office.

THREAD on today's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) from the Department of Homeland Security seeking to restrict the period of stay allowed for international students.

From @FWDus President @TheToddSchulte ---> fwd.us/news/fwd-us-st…
"This proposal is another attempt by the Trump Administration to slash legal immigration by making the process more restrictive, expensive, unpredictable, and burdensome for international students, particularly those from African and Asian countries." — @TheToddSchulte
"It weaponizes a flawed, dishonest interpretation of data about visa overstays to impose more bureaucratic red tape on an already-broken immigration system, while providing no benefit to U.S. citizens." — @TheToddSchulte

Chad Wolf’s nomination as Secretary of DHS MUST be opposed.

Wolf, an architect of family separation, has championed some of the Trump Administration’s cruelest, most unpopular immigration policies. #FreeTheFamilies Image
In Dec 2017, Wolf produced a list of options to slash immigration, including the separation of families at the border. Among others, it also included what is now the “Remain in Mexico” policy and a proposed measure to expedite the deportation of children. #FreeTheFamilies
Wolf has championed the Trump Admin's “Remain in Mexico” Policy. During a visit to the border, Wolf decried calls to defund the policy as a “critical mistake,” praising it as one of the “most successful initiatives" at DHS to “[help] root out fraud” in the asylum system.

NEW FWD blog via @a_moriarty, @FWDus Deputy Director of Federal Policy: Immigrants create jobs and raise wages for U.S. workers, but reforms are needed to protect America's competitive advantage.

THREAD 👇 fwd.us/news/high-skil…
Immigrants are an essential part of the United States’ workforce, filling critical labor gaps and contributing specialized skills.

Immigrants are also job-creators, starting businesses at nearly twice the rate of native-born Americans and employing nearly 9 million Americans.
The limited availability of #H1B visas is not enough to meet the needs of U.S. employers, leaving critical roles unfilled.

In recent years, demand for #H1Bvisas has consistently exhausted the number available as set by Congress within just one week.
