Yesterday, during substantial questioning from my @SASCGOP colleagues and myself, we learned a lot from top military leadership about President Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Here are my top takeaways ↓ Military leaders advised @POTUS to keep at least 2,500 troops in Afghanistan.

Reminder: On August 18, President Biden said, it “wasn’t true” that his advisors said this…“No one said that to me that I can recall.”

Here's what Generals Milley and McKenzie told us yesterday ↓

Tune in now as I deliver opening remarks at a hearing on @POTUS's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan & the Administration's future plans for counterterrorism. @SASCGOP is here today to understand what happened, why military advice was ignored & who should be held accountable. I want to be perfectly clear: the frustration on this committee about the chaotic & deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan is not—and should never be—directed towards our troops. Our men & women in uniform bravely volunteer to go into harm’s way to keep their fellow Americans safe.

Proud to announce the completion of the 60th Annual National Defense Authorization Act — a bill that champions our troops, supports our military families, and strengthens our national defense. #FY21NDAA There’s nothing else on Capitol Hill that has gotten done for 60 years straight. That’s because this bill is the most important thing we’ll do all year. Here's what the #FY21NDAA does to secure our nation today and defend tomorrow: armed-services.senate.gov/download/fy21-…

Today’s @SASCMajority hearing on the NNSA budget was an important one. What we heard from our witnesses was serious: U.S. nuclear forces are long overdue for a major overhaul. Facilities are crumbling, weapons are becoming obsolete, and we’re falling behind China and Russia. Image I asked our witnesses to describe just why it’s so important that the federal agencies charged with protecting our nuclear deterrent work together. It’s a matter of responsibility to our taxpayers — and it’s a grave matter of national security.

The 1033 program allows @DeptofDefense to transfer surplus equipment – like vehicles, boots, computers, and more – to federal, state and local law enforcement. This equipment is always demilitarized to be appropriate for public safety use. For years, local law enforcement agencies have been asked to do more with less, and now, as they face liberal calls to defund the police, we need to be continuing this transparent, responsible program.

Like everyone else, I am horrified and saddened by the killing of George Floyd. I await the results of all investigations, state and federal, and for anyone responsible to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law... This wknd, 1000s of Oklahomans joined the nation by engaging in meaningful demonstrations in support of justice &reform. Your voices are heard. We each have a responsibility to do more to stand up against injustice &to treat everyone as our brothers &sisters, as Christ calls us..

Since 2017, China has blocked Taiwan from participating in the World Health Organization. That is unacceptable—and as we look at the global response to the coronavirus pandemic, China’s diplomatic bullying is even more egregious. While China failed to warn the public about the pandemic, silenced doctors, rebuffed efforts for an independent inquiry and hoarded medical supplies, Taiwan has been a strong partner in public health.

.@SenDanSullivan, @SenKevinCramer and I spoke with @SecretaryRoss recently – Saudi Arabia and Russia’s continued dumping of crude is having lasting and damaging effects on American energy producers. This is intentional – Russia and Saudi Arabia are tired of competing with us and want to put American oil and gas producers out of business so they can once again dictate energy prices to the world.

Today, my @SASCMajority & @SASCDems colleagues and I talked to @DeptofDefense officials directly about the #COVID19 pandemic - including what they are doing to protect the force and maintain readiness, how DOD is supporting civil authorities & how they are mitigating its impact. As the situation onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt has shown, our military is facing numerous and unique challenges as they balance preventing further spread of #COVID19 among our troops with trying to maintain readiness for national security missions.

.@realDonaldTrump has been clear all along – the US will not tolerate Iran spilling American blood.

The Quds Force, under the direction of Soleimani, is responsible for attacks that have killed hundreds of American &coalition service members. @realDonaldTrump Last week, an Iranian proxy killed an American contractor, and this week, Iran’s proxies attacked our embassy and were actively targeting American diplomats and service members. Their actions were unacceptable—as are all actions that threaten Americans and our coalition partners.

Speaker Pelosi’s reluctance to send the Senate the articles of impeachment for a trial underscores the partisanship of House Democrats. Not only was there bipartisan opposition to impeaching the President in the House, but they rushed their process and are now afraid of their shoddy work being examined in a Senate trial. They impeached President Trump because they have a disdain for everything he’s done.

Yesterday, I visited @Team_Tinker w/ @ActingSecAF and senior Air Force leadership, who came at my request to see all the problems with housing on base: homes not up to fire code, potential exposure to asbestos, and ongoing mold problems. No family should have to live like this. Image My biggest disappointment was discovering new problems like the lack of firewall protections between newly built housing units and persistent mold problems. I have to ask, what other undiscovered problems exist?

Energy independence and sticking by the hardworking men and women who make that possible is incredibly important to Americans—I know it’s important to those who work in the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma and their families. Some of the same Democrats who cosponsored the far-fetched, radical Green New Deal that would eliminate more than 170,000 refining jobs are now urging Administrator Wheeler to ignore the law and take steps to further harm an industry that keeps America running.

Today I was pleased to meet with President @ashrafghani at #MSC2019 to thank him for his leadership and to hear his assessment of the political, economic & security situation in Afghanistan. It is clear to me that @POTUS’ South Asia strategy is working. It has given the Afghan people a real chance to achieve a sustainable peace. At this pivotal moment, American support for Afghanistan remains critical.

China continues to block Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly through diplomatic bullying for the third consecutive year. Actively working to include Taiwan in the World Health Assembly will go a long way in checking China’s efforts to enact their expansionist agenda through international organizations.

Earlier this year, @realDonaldTrump outlined the first National Defense Strategy in over a decade that correctly prioritized the growing threats to our country and the direction of our military. Today’s #NDAA reflects and supports this strategy.
