Here is my TL;DR on @SusanPrichard10 et al.
esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ea… 1. Are the effects of fire exclusion overstated? If so, are treatments unwarranted or event counterproductive?
Fires of all severities are currently in deficit.
Current high-severity patch size is uncharacteristic
H-S fires are accelerating forest to non-forest transition

There is a lot of fear and fatalism around #ClimateChange and #wildfire. The combination of these two will cause significant ecosystem change, think forest to grassland. Large, hot wildfires are the catalyst for change. We can reduce the amount of change that occurs... 1/n by restoring fire to these ecosystems. Changing our relationship with fire will help ecosystems and reduce the impacts of large, hot wildfires on communities. It does not matter how hot and dry it is if there is nothing to burn. We can manage the surplus vegetation... 2/n

My science-policy students had to follow 10 scientists on twitter for the semester and report out what they thought worked well and what was ineffective for reaching a broad audience. There were some common findings. They followed ~90 different scientists. #scicomm Worked well:
When posting a paper link, including an accessible 1 sentence punchline for the paper.
Responding to questions in a respectful manner.
Photos & images to solidify the point
Retweeting/discussing science from other researchers
