The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling today in Castro-Huerta v Oklahoma is an alarming step backward for justice on our reservation in cases where non-Native criminals commit crimes against Native people. 1/8 It hands jurisdictional responsibility in these cases to the State, which during its long, pre-McGirt, history of illegal jurisdiction on our reservation, routinely failed to deliver justice for Native victims. 2/8

Principal Chief David Hill: "We in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation are encouraged by the action that Congress took today on two fronts vital to our role in contributing to the safety and security of all people within the boundaries of our reservation.

The Muscogee Nation has a few updates and corrections to the remarks that Oklahoma Governor Stitt delivered today at the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the State meeting. Oklahoma case that had the effect of re-affirming our tribal sovereignty.
 First, “McGirt” is not the biggest problem or threat to Oklahoma.
