🧵 As everyone talks about abortion this week, we thought it might be helpful to review some best practices with regards to language from the repro field & share some other definitions that might be useful.

1/x Thread. Instead of:

“Safe, Legal and Rare”

Say:

“Support abortion access”

Why?

Demanding that abortion be “rare” stigmatizes those who do have abortions.

To be clear: Despite what Politico is reporting tonight, Roe has not been overturned and abortion is still legal in the United States. While the draft opinion that Politico shared tonight is not official, the language is upsetting, shocking, and outrageous. In a matter of weeks, tens of millions of Americans could lose access to abortion care, forcing them to be pregnant and increasing the risk of life threatening medical emergencies.
