Local governments have not done an effective job of enforcement in these hotspot ZIP codes.
NYS will be doing aggressive enforcement starting tomorrow.
As we saw with bars and restaurants, when the state initiated enforcement actions compliance greatly increased.
However the State can't take over effective enforcement for every jurisdiction. If a local jurisdiction cannot or will not perform effective enforcement of violating entities, notify the State & we will close all business activity in hotspots where local gov't can't do compliance

UPDATE: There are now 33 confirmed cases of #Coronavirus in NYS — 11 new positive tests since yesterday.
All new cases are connected to the original New Rochelle case.
As we do more tests, the number of positive cases will rise, as we are seeing.

Today I'm announcing new actions to help ensure our healthcare systems & hospitals are equipped to respond to a potential COVID-19 pandemic.
A new $40 million emergency appropriation will allow @HealthNYGov to hire additional staff and procure equipment and other resources they need to respond to any emergency situation that may arise.

This morning, jointly with @NYCMayor, I announced a 10 point plan to transform and fix the MTA.
Reorganize: MTA will develop a reorganization plan to make the agency more efficient and effective. The 1968-designed structure makes coordination between MTA's entities difficult and expensive.

Stay safe! This winter storm is expected to bring up to 24 inches in some regions of the state.
Tractor trailers and buses are banned on much of the Thruway system as of 3pm.
450 Members of National Guard have been activated to assist with storm response.
@NYSDOT is ready to respond with 1,606 large plow trucks including 100 reserve trucks. DOT has:

326 large loaders
36 snowblowers
19 graders
205 medium duty and pickup trucks with plows
30 tractor trailers

The shutdown of the federal government at the hands of President Trump and the Senate Republicans is putting New Yorkers in harm's way and it must end.
2.7 million New Yorkers who depend on SNAP benefits will be impacted beginning February 1 if the government shutdown continues.
Over 16,000 federal workers in New York are furloughed or being asked to work without pay, including TSA agents.

#BREAKING: New York State intends to file a multi-agency lawsuit against the Trump administration for violating the Constitutional rights of immigrant children and their families who have been separated at the border.
We know of at least 70 children who are being held in federal facilities across New York State. That number is expected to increase. New York is suing to protect the health and well-being of those children and others throughout the nation.
