1. Great film. Christian Bale’s performance is spot-on. His character is enigmatic and authentic in his hatred toward Indians, yet can’t be characterized as racist. Consider his camaraderie with the black soldier in his company. It’s a curious dynamic I’ve seen and experienced. Image 2. In corners of the West, this type of prejudice towards Indians still exists. It’s peculiar because I’ve experienced and observed White people show this attitude toward Indians, but not at others (like black people & others). So, therefore it isn’t exactly racist.

1. As a Native American speaking for myself, I find Mr. Phillips’ protest AGGRESSIVE & DISGRACEFUL! It’s a hypocritical irony, since their action is reminiscent of what Missionaries & the US Gov. did to eradicate NA Ceremonial life.
2. The history that Phillips mentions is uncomfortable. The description of “genocide,” “religions prejudice,” & “dehumanization” is mostly true. It’s HISTORY but not FORGOTTEN.

1. At first, I didn’t have an opinion about your claim of Native American heritage because many Americans share it. However, I became resentful when you began publicly capitalizing on it for your political ambitions and then refused to answer questions about it. Image 2. You even avoided Native media, like Indian Country Today (which prompted a harsh rebuke from the head of the Native American Journalists Association). Your avoidance was very disrespectful, cast a pall over your character, and shredded your credibility.
