Let me breakdown #CHAZ/#CHOP and the drama between Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan & Police Chief Carmen Best in what I like to call—
"Jenny Durkan has a reelection to win next year and Carmen Best DGAF." komonews.com/news/local/may…
Jenny Durkan allowed SPD to "protect" the East Precinct against protestors using tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash bombs. For over a week SPD & Durkan were on the same page—destroy the protesting by any means necessary. forbes.com/sites/jemimamc…

Seattle PD dragging mother out of her car while her 9 year old is in the backseat. Officer tells her she has “multiple counts of assaulting an officer. You assaulted me and you assaulted another officer” at a protest couple days ago.
Cops are seeking revenge on protestors.
Woman is at KC JAIL and an attorney spoke to her this morning. This is the day Seattle Mayor “banned tear gas” Enough dancing on Capitol Hill and falling for police propaganda. Law enforcement and @MayorJenny has gone to war with their people. #seattleprotests

This is how billionaires like Bezos protects their wealth. By buying hyper-local elected seats to prevent any future taxes. geekwire.com/2019/amazon-gi…
“We are disappointed by today’s City Council decision to introduce a tax on jobs … we remain very apprehensive about the future created by the council’s hostile approach and rhetoric toward larger businesses, which forces us to question our growth here,” Amazon VP Drew Herdener,

I hate how Journalism counties to fetishize "objectivity". Publications have historically gaslighted communities of color by forcing them to prove that the things going on in their communities are "news worthy". Media has served as gatekeepers between the people and justice.
In an industry that centered old white male voices, what did objectivity look like for them? Stories from the projects either didn't earn a spot in the local paper, or it was exploited by the trauma porn click bait journalist.
