A big IV can be the difference between life and death for a bleeding or severely volume-down patient
But what's "good enough"?
Here's some of why LBIVs matter

🩸Large bore = 16g or 14g pIV (or a venous sheath).
🩸20g and 18g don’t cut it.
🩸Central lines, PICCs, other long catheters don’t cut it either.
🩸No claves or connectors!
