I realized this week that I’ve misunderstood what resilience meant my entire life.

I thought that being resilient meant being tough 💪🏼, not being deterred and being able to recover and get back on track 🛤.

I was wrong.

A reflection 🪞on resilience 💎 👇 I previously wrote a post for @voxdotcom about growing up poor in East Oakland and applying to an elite private school thanks to the insistence of my amazing 5th grade teacher Mrs. Harris. 👩🏻‍🏫

“It was a day like a slow-motion video of twilight. Uneventful, to put it mildly. The lead gray of the sky mixed ever so slowly with black, finally blending into night. Just another quality of melancholy.” 1/4 “As if there were only two colors in the world, gray and black, shifting back and forth at regular intervals.” 2/4

“Life is a single player game. You’re born alone. You’re going to die alone. All of your interpretations are alone. All your memories are alone. You’re gone in three generations and no one cares. Before you showed up nobody cared. It’s all single player.”
@Naval on @farnamstreet My mind immediately connected that to the ending lyric from my favorite song right now by @macklemore:

Love is just a tool
To remind us who we are
And that we are not alone
When we're walking in the dark

Loved @BostonMarathon champion @Des_Linden's thoughts on failure on the @richroll podcast: richroll.com/podcast/des-li…: "Failure is an action, not an identity" (1/5) #MondayMotivation "Last year was the big thing where "I’m trying to win the Boston Marathon". I put it out there very publicly. Afterwards, it didn’t happen, and I said I failed and that’s okay. People were like “No, you didn’t fail! You were amazing! And this and that." (2/5)

Super late to the party, but trying to understand the hype/see what early interesting apps/toys are being built on #blockchain/#crypto that aren't just exchanges/trading platforms/stores. What should I check out? Caveats: super beginner & SUPER skeptical as @rickyyean can attest So far, Steemit at least looks interesting, but I'm finding pretty little else that's interesting. Brave and Metamask were also not beginner friendly at all to set up.
