Context: I'm a high-risk pregnancy specialist & scientist so I've thought a lot about the vaccine and have discussed pros/cons at length w colleagues. Decision making in pregnancy is a complex process in general and highly personal. COVID vaccination is no exception. 2/

Excited to see our paper in @JCI_insight! Silver lining of lab shutdown this yr was time to wrap up this project which has been yrs in the making.
We studied a Stox1 KO mouse model to probe mechanisms underlying hypertensive disorders of #pregnancy. 1/ insight.jci.org/articles/view/…
STOX1 is a TF and predicted #preeclampsia risk gene IDed through family-based genetic linkage studies (van Dijk, @NatureGenet 2005). A variant in the DNA-binding domain was proposed to alter protein function ➡️ preE susceptibility. But LOF model had not been studied. 🐁 2/
