The @NYMag article about #LongCovid and #MECFS by @ManvBrain is misleading, biased, and riddled with errors. I sent a letter to the editor today, which you can read on my blog. occupyme.net/2022/11/22/new… 1/11 I could make many critiques of this article, but my letter focuses on just three examples of how source material was misused in the article. IMO these examples are evidence of bias and undermine the credibility of the entire article. 2/11

Me: Hey, I read some great books this year! I made a list of them!

Everyone: . . .

Me: Wanna hear it? Here it goes! My faves, in chronological order, a THREAD: THE BROKEN HEAVENS by @KameronHurley This is a very satisfying end to a fantastic fantasy trilogy. Hurley creates worlds and characters unlike anything else I've read. She never ever disappoints.

Unfortunately in some ways it IS competition. THREAD (1/10) The public has a limited attention span. Despite events like @unrestfilm and the National Academy of Med report, the public does not recognize #MECFS as a public health problem despite the fact that an estimated 1 million people have it. Excellent article about #Covid_19 with an interview with Dr. Bruce Aylward, assistant director of WHO. I've pulled out my favorite quotes in this thread. vox.com/2020/3/2/21161… "I think the key learning from China is speed — it’s all about the speed. The faster you can find the cases, isolate the cases, and track their close contacts, the more successful you’re going to be."

EPIC THREAD. I have a cautionary message to my fellow #PwME about neck manipulation. I know we’re all paying more attention to the neck/cervical spine since @jenbrea’s discussion of her successful surgery for craniocervical instability. 1/9 I’ve heard many anecdotal stories similar to Jen’s, and I think proper imaging should be accessible to every patient who needs it. But in the absence of access to care, many people are trying DIY neck solutions. Please DON’T. 2/9
