1. Day 2 of livetweeting my life to show people what it's like to live with a moderate case of #MECFS. Starting a new thread because the previous one is long.

2. First thread starts here:

1. I'm going to attempt to livetweet my next few days to show what it's like living with a moderate case of ME/CFS. So many people just don't understand what it means to live with a post-viral illness.

I was planning to start this earlier today but I was too exhausted. 2. AMA about what I'm tweeting about or #MECFS in general. I'll try to respond to everyone but it may not be until later this week.

1. A few hours ago Cloudflare dropped Kiwi Farms after previously saying they would not.
cbsnews.com/news/cloudflar…

Cloudflare's message when you try to go to kiwifarms.net claims this is "Due to an imminent and emergency threat to human life...", however… 2. … Kiwi Farms founder/owner Joshua Moon posted to Telegram that “If there is any threat to life on the site, I have received no communication from any law enforcement.”

1. Student journalists reported news. Principal tried to censor + sanction advisor.

“The courts have been very clear that students working in student media are not school employees, or agents of the school in any way,” he said. “They're students telling stories, providing news.” 2. @ThePearlPost named the librarian, the only "teacher at the school [who] had opted out of vaccination and didn’t show up to work".

I'm in a really weird corner of the Internet and it's really defying expectations. I shouldn't be surprised because I've spent time here before but this is something else. 🤯

People should read more primary sources as much as possible. Also, much respect to people who meet their trolls where they are and engage with them human to human instead of shitposter to shitposter. This takes so much courage but seems surprisingly effective when people are genuine.

1. Down another tangent rabbit hole tonight and thinking about credibility. 2. In any incident there are minimum of 3 sides to the story.

Assuming 2 parties, they each tell the story through their lens and then I’ll call the third side “reality”, which can't always be ascertained by observers.

A random selection of what I've watched on YouTube tonight. People complain that it's all trash but I just don't get it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Altai throat singing. Bai Terek

One of these guys is an MMA fighter. 😲

1. A pawn shop owner TikToker in Minnesota is claiming to have stumbled across a scrapbook of photos from the Nanjing Massacre. He claims the photographer "was present for the Rape of Nanking & he took about 30 photographs that are unknown to history that are worse than ... 2.

... anything I've seen on the Internet in color, and those photos are in black & white."

@fakehistoryhunt goes over how the album is not a rare find of previously unseen Japanese Imperial Army atrocities.

1. Damn, Shaun King has moved on from threatening black activists to threatening two journalists at the NY Post for their coverage of questions about his/his PAC's finances. 2. You can read about some of King’s past threats and older money allegations against him here:

1. Folks, I can't stress this enough—if you see someone posting threats to social media/blogs/websites ALWAYS take a few minutes to archive before reporting or posting about it unless it contains personal info/photos that shouldn't be archived. 2. If the post is getting a lot of attention the poster or the platform may remove it.

Screenshots can be faked so an archive is better. If one site doesn’t work, try another.

1. This write up of the Texas House committee interim report is both heartbreaking & infuriating.

People often think that preventing violence is someone else's job. I hope more people will learn that it's EVERYONE'S job. 2. The full report for the Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary Shooting titled “Interim Report 2022” is 81 pages long. I haven’t had time to read it so this thread is working only from the article. #UvaldeShooting

1. A friend just sent me this video where people had gathered to protest the police shooting of 20yo Tekle Sundberg by Minneapolis SWAT snipers after a standoff in which he was shooting at people in his apt building. This woman said he tried to kill her.

kare11.com/article/news/l… 2. The woman said she's "sorry he lost his life but he had 6 hours to choose that. I had 2 to 5 minutes to choose life or death."

1. Great advice from @David_Leheny for undergrads, grad students, and early career scholars on approaching faculty for help going to Japan.

There's a lot of general advice on writing to faculty to ask a favor that's helpful even if you're not in Japanese/Asia-Pacific Studies. @David_Leheny 2. As I said to David earlier, as someone who worked in higher ed for over a decade as support staff, if I could teach grad students one thing it would be that if you want to be successful you should try your best to treat everyone...

1. A friend sent me a threat from an abortion rights group instructing people how to design protest signs. I really have my doubts that the left is going to prevail on abortion rights. 2. Although you have people screaming that this is emergency (clearly it is in some states), currently the bar for entry to be on "our side" is that you must first acknowledge that this is NOT a women's issue and also include all the transmen + nonbinary people who also need ...

1. For those not familiar with Japan's gun laws, they have some of the strictest gun laws in the world. I'm currently looking for stats but English Wikipedia has just 29 articles for "Deaths by firearm in Japan".

It's currently just after 1pm, Friday July 8th Nara time.

I haven’t had a chance to read the report yet and not sure if I’ll be able to get to it any time soon but thought I’d share some thoughts and anecdotes that helped me to understand the complexity of human sexuality and how behavior doesn’t always align with identity. I’ll try not to be too explicit in this thread but obviously given the topic consider this NSFW or children.

1. If you’ve enjoyed/found my threads useful and have some disposable income would you consider donating to OMF? They fund research that will help those of us with #MECFS #LongCOVID #PTLDS & #fibromyalgia. 2. My life has basically been on hold for over a decade since I first developed ME/CFS. It took me until 2020 to get a diagnosis. Delayed diagnoses like mine are common because there are currently no labs that doctors can order to definitively diagnose ME/CFS.

Very accurate. 🧵😂 People think it’s fun to go viral and maybe it is for some people but I tend to find it incredibly stressful. There’s a period of time in which you mostly get people agreeing with you and liking whatever you said but after about 24 hours it gets out past your adjacent networks…
