I need to find time to put together a study of (a) how publications at CHI/CSCW/FAccT talk about research ethics (if at all), and (b) what kinds of papers specifically about research ethics have been accepted into the conferences over the years. 1/5
My hypothesis is that discussions/papers about the ethics of *outputs* of research projects have increased: folks are engaged with issues of impacts on vulnerable populations, the pseudoscience of physiognomy, etc re the systems/models being built. 2/5

Um, so @Facebook just "unpublished" my page for @ZuckerbergFiles that has existed since 2013: "It looks like recent activity on your Page doesn't follow the Facebook Page Policies regarding impersonation and pretending to be an individual or business." #sigh
And when I click on the "Disagree with this decision" you get this oh-so-helpful "we're busy and might not get to this message.

Yesterday someone set up @disneyplus account with my email address & a new password request appeared in my inbox. I was able to easily reset it myself, and now that account is comprised. But this thread is actually worse, because it is about @FirstStopHealth's security flaws 1/5
.@FirstStopHealth is a health care provider that allows patients to call in and talk to doctors and receive care & prescriptions, etc. A helpful business model, I'm sure. Today, I received a password reset request in my inbox, but I've never used the service. 2/5

Perhaps the worst cover image for one of the worst books purporting to discuss #ethics and #bigdata.
“Big data technology has no value framework.” Bullshit. Big data is inherently techno-positivist, and largely enabled by infrastructures of surveillance lacking consent or respect for individual subjects.
