A BAKER'S DOZEN RESPONSE: I'm cracking back to respond to this. Your response to my Tweets in this conversation only becomes useful if you can address this question substantively. (1/x) Why are you demanding of me specifics & particulars & explained proofs when all you offer in your responses are "you don't hv a shred of proof?" when I've offered political analysis & opinion? It can't happen with the Pan-Africanists' sclerotic inflexibility. LONG THREAD FORTHCOMING.

A number from among us have demanded it for generations. Dr. Claud Anderson (& others) argued for it 25 years ago. Norris Shelton formed a lineage-based org over 40 yrs ago. (1/x) The aftermath of the disappointment & material loss of wealth of the masses of Black Americans combined w/the election of Donald Trump primed a new political environment that allowed Black Americans to more willingly hear the voices of new media creators... NEW 🧵! Interest Convergence & The American Democratic Republic

It's often been argued that white America has only conceded to Black American demands for justice when there has been interest convergence for the whites in power. (1/x) Example 1: during the Civil War, emancipation of the enslaved in the South was not the endgame, but a means to strike a blow to the Confederate economy & war effort.

It was the means to preserve the Union. (2/x)

Okay, here we go. Thread!

I'm observing an emerging narrative. There's truth in it,
but not the whole story.

A narrative, that states, the movement and progress
that reparations have made come from the political
education of the founders, Yvette Carnell & Antonio
Moore. (1/x) This is a fact. Ms. Carnell & Mr. Moore have provided
invaluable political education that galvanized many
thousands of us into political action. (2/x)

Aiwuyor's "Understanding ADOS" was flawed from the start because from its base, it came from charges that the movement might be funded from right-wing interests because Yvette Carnell wore a MAGA hat (as a prop device) on a livestream & an Ann Coulter tweet. (1) On top of that, there is ongoing accusations of Russian bot activity that Shirleen Mitchell never proved, yet it remains the engine of #ADOS accusations 2 1/2 years later. (2)

In recent events & during these heated-up political times (and it's gonna get hotter), a LOT of awful back-and-forth has gone down w/BTP and #ADOS.

The writer known as Paul Sowers has been called "out-of-pocket" in the kindest, & a whole lot of uglier things beyond that... (1/x) ...and none of those ugly things are true. This man is a good dude, he's long recognized the brilliance of the #ADOS founders, & he's written passionately on the justice of the demands of ADOS people.

And despite all of the this-and-that, the debt remains unpaid. (2/x)

There's a deep-seated sense of shame in many #ADOS that our ancestors were enslaved. It reveals itself when you hear ADOS say "I don't want to see anymore slave movies, etc." It's a stigma & a trauma that has to be avoided or rationalized.

(1/x) What many of us who are doing this #ADOS political work have come to see is, why should I hold onto shame for what happened to my ancestors being dragged to this nation?

We feel grief for their suffering. We feel anger over their historical, & our contemporary treatment; (2/x)

#ADOS Family,

When surveying the ADOS chapters, the political education, the growing number of video & audio podcasts...we are building a media presence & possessing an increasing ability to establish *our own narrative.*

WE are doing this, together. Now let me extend that. I continue to have & engage in conversations, all around.

There was a Medium piece that I published two days ago as a counter to Jessica Ann Mitchell Aiwuyor, but it's time to consider additional, deeper issues.

Let's explore. #ADOS (1/x)

#ADOS random thought:

The fact Talib Kweli Greene & Jessica Aiwuyor were able to spread such misinformation about ADOS, *and so much of the blue check population quickly embraced & believed it,* says WAY more about them and the #DecadentVeil than it does about us. (1/) I mean...

What in the Terry Crews does it take for middle-class to wealthy striver Blacks & ADOS on media platforms to embrace a belief that a group of poor & working-poor Black Americans are xenophobic white-supremacists? #ADOS #MakeItMakeSense (2/)

Good late evening family. This is going to be another long one.

With this Tweet-thread, we're going to review and consider coalitions and alliances.

Let's have a discussion about when to do them, why to do them, and what to expect out of the transaction. #ADOS #ADOSAgile (1/) An excellent prologue for a discussion on this critical issue is Kwame Ture (formerly Stokely Carmichael) & political scientist Charles V. Hamilton's "Black Power: The Politics of Liberation."

Good early morning family.

With this Tweet-thread, I want to share something that my pastor @KWCosby calls "Points to Ponder," key things to remember as we engage people and personalities on this platform. #ADOS (1/) Our effort for a righteous justice claim battles much resistance & many enemies. Some of it is out of ignorance & a lack of knowledge. Some of it might well be having an interest in keeping ADOS a bottom caste in this country. #ADOSPolitics (2/)

Good evening family.

This thread is likely to get long, possibly VERY long, & it might meander a bit.

With my latest round of work, I want to have a conversation about *doing the work,* and what that means. #ADOS (1/) I want to talk about a subject that is absolutely going to matter as we work in local chapters with engagement, or as we attend meetings in city halls or gov't venues in your state...

The power of Political Framing and language. #ADOS (2/)

Good afternoon #ADOS Family, on the eve of a start of a new decade!

Back again for another session to teach. Share. Learn. To help provide you information that supplements our understanding & continue to build this political justice project.

This might be a long one. (1/) We are going to keep asserting, not only the intent of our justice claim, but why #ADOS does what we do & why SPECIFICITY MATTERS.

This is an era where we don't need slick marketing, WE NEED POLITICAL WORK W/INTENTION. "The revolution will not be merchandised," indeed. (2/)

As we continue to engage in #ADOS justice work, we've been catching criticisms from cynics, some of them vehement, who mock us for always talking about data. "Data, data, blah, blah..."

There's a critical context argument that gets missed here. (1/) It's critical that an ADOS Agile Activist have knowledge of what the numbers translate to (in understanding #ADOSLife), BUT YOU ALSO NEED THE NUMBERS.

Why do I bring this up? It falls back to some of the arguments going on in our world. (2/)

Moreover and fundamentally, as reparations "advocates," there is strong reason that many Pan-Africanists are convinced that reparations will NEVER HAPPEN, and your "advocacy" is more or less a political exercise to "do for self." #ADOS I've read the ibn Yusuf essay.

We are fundamentally opposed in strategy. You all have conceded any thought that justice can be extracted...so it creates an appearance that you cats are just out for forming the HR40 commission w/people so a few of you can get the bag. #ADOS

This PFIR guilt-by-association slander is something that cannot stand.

Whatever you, Mr. Greene, or any other observer thinks about PFIR...someone please provide evidence of any position paper, article, blog entry, etc. that espouses harm to immigrants to this country. PFIR has been flagged as connected to nativists by the same organization that called the Nation of Islam and The New Black Panther Party hate groups, who happens to be allies with N'COBRA in their #reparations push.

So how much weight should we give about what they say?

At first glance, this appears to be a disingenuous question.

Treating this as a thought experiment as if it is not, let's go forward.

This is an issue that has been explored with academic rigor. Any cursory JSTOR search would reveal that history. #ADOS Given that you are entirely unaware of the history of American Black reparations analysis, I am also inclined to assume that you are unaware of the socioeconomic status of #ADOS in this nation. America's racial wealth gap is a real thing.

The continued charge that #ADOS thought leaders are intellectually and morally lacking, and if only they would be supplanted by more "responsible" or "respectable" leadership, that they, we, would somehow be in more desirable graces... (1/x) After a more careful and considered review, it is one that I ultimately refute.

The nexus of all of these fears are about the immigration stance. (2/x)
