@eredmil1 @ohohlfeld @Inria OK, so here we go! @Inria is a French National Research Institution in Informatics and Mathematics. Researchers get a tenure the day they are hired. They are public employees of a French State, the salaries are well-defined by the state and not negotiable... Thread 1/n @eredmil1 @ohohlfeld @Inria When you start a permanent research position in about 5 years since the start of the PhD, you get ~2400$ per month net. It's mush smaller than US but count different aspects of life. This is enough to live comfortably in France. 2/n
