As we enter the twilight of Boris Johnson’s reign as Prime Minister, we get another dose of the sabre rattling that has sadly dogged the past number of years without ever delivering anything. 1/ There are issues with the implementation of the Northern Irish protocol, no one denies this but there is an appetite to resolve these issues through genuine negotiation. 2/

No surprises from Liz Truss this evening but a few thoughts on what is probably the lowest day in this entire sorry #Brexit process. 1/ This legislation is quite simply baffling in its disregard for international law, the people and businesses of Northern Ireland and the EU. 2/

I am calling for the establishment of an all-party Special Oireachtas Committee to be established to look at the challenges and opportunities that Irish Unity presents. 1/ Brexit has fundamentally changed the tone of debate when it comes to Irish unity. 2/

In June @MaryLouMcDonald wrote in the @IrishSunOnline that “There can be no whitewashing of detrimental impact the Kinahans have on society”. I now ask, does she stand by this or by her colleague @johnfinucane who’s law firm issued letters on behalf of #kinahan? Today we see this reported on fully in @TheSundayLife

So this weekend, like many, we’re going to see the usual #brexit suspects come out with some of their regular outbursts. Here’s a few thoughts I have via a #Thread below. Some of these will point blame at the EU for trying to sabotage a deal, focus specifically on Ireland or go for the approach that the EU will crack soon due to the pressures of the German car manufacturers or the likes.
