"There's a better likelihood they'll put it in some of the media."

"Charter schools is one of my favourite things." - SD33 Chilliwack public school trustee Heather Maahs stated at an anti-SOGI event at Evergreen Hall this evening. She joined the conversation to advocate for charter schools and finished by saying, "We don't have charter schools in BC, but we need them. Vote BC Conservatives in the next election."

All videos in this thread are from Facebook. Organizers put chairs on the stage with names of the SD33 trustees on them even though they knew they would not be attending. Maahs had a chair on the stage with her name on it, but sat in the audience until she jumped up to talk about charter schools. The empty chairs were a testament to the fact that the trustees won't join a platform with people who defy human rights and are only interested in a transphobic and homophobic agenda. It would actually go against the basic principles of public education in BC to be there and support such an event as a trustee.
