False rape cases under the provision of 'sex with false promise of marriage' has become a dangerous menace. I have to agree with men's rights activists like @ArnazHathiram @DeepikaBhardwaj on this. And I really want to do something about it. Let's discuss this ladies. The irony is there is nothing directly written in IPC about consensual sex during their days of courtship turning into rape after a bad break up. Yet this legal arm twisting is being routinely done by empowered educated, financially independent women.

RJ Sayema or Arfa Khanum or other influential politically active Muslim women in India do not wear Hijab themselves but support school girls wearing it because - choice. Problem is they avoid the truth that "choice" is never free from religious/social conditioning. Question is, is it fair for privileged Muslim women who enjoy the modern Western liberal way of life and advocate/support following religious dogmas, patriarchal traditions to the under-privileged rural Muslim women or even children in name of identity politics?

Met a lady on a shared auto towards Saket metro. In just 15 min she displayed her hate for women and Muslims. First she ranted against a female driving an unwashed car. "dekho kaise hai, gaadi ko saaf nahi kar sakti. Agar safai wala nahi aaya toh khud se kapda nahi mar sakti."1/2 Then she looked at the road and ranted against rows of biryani shops. "Hamara desh mein na sab West ko copy kar rahe hai, itne saare biryani shop lagta hai jaise mein Hyderabad mein hoon." Nobody responded. Then she said, lagta hai mini pakistan hai."

Craziness level 100%

Very early in my life i realised and felt empowered that i don't need money. That's why i never took any liabilities. I have worked erratically taking jobs quitting jobs. Travel on saved money come back empty pocket to take another job only to spend it all again. Money means nothing to me if people don't know me. Nothing makes me more alive than a few people saying hey read your piece or heard you speak. I can live on that. Baaki how much does one stomach needs. Got a roof over head and medical policy thanks to dad. No shame in that.

Single people are expected to be there for friends and family on imp occasions/emergency situations but vice versa is never true. They won't turn up on your imp days because how can they? They have a family. You are the single freely available and easily dispensable one. There will never be a day when you'll need them the same way. If you are single and not interested in motherhood then you won't need your friends for those important or sensitive occasions, pregnancy, child's special birthday party, first vaccination. #beingsingle

As #RIPTwitter #TwitterDown #GoodByeTwitter trend, here's a thread on my first blog on Twitter. I wrote this after using Twitter for few days the first time: sanjukta.wordpress.com/2007/07/17/do-…

July 2007. I joined in July 2007 out of FOMO. All the techies around me in Bangalore were talking about it and I felt left out. "...quite cool. That’s the thing with these technologies. Everyday they are inventing new means to make your virtual identity more vivid," I wrote.

RW trolls say, she has no life, no marriage family that's why targeting Modiji all the time. It's kind of true. I have no life, all I do is read write work on my PhD read write do political commentry. And that's ok. You need people to speak truth to power. But, hey, I bake. ImageImage Tried making Orange 🍊 cake. Wasn't very successful. Main ingredient was the zest which i extracted from the orange peel but it was bitter. So i didn't add it. Just the orange juice was not enough to get the tangy flavour. So it turned out a great cake but not orange cake.

A big part of my PhD research is how Twitter is like the coffee house or town square. But a lot of Twitter's culture and practice I am documenting doesn't really have academic reference. Eg. How people go to Twitter to find out if there's an earthquake or if another app is down. Dear @joyopal could you help with this please? You've done a lot of research on Twitter, I read most of your papers. Would you know any work which documented these common Twitter culture and practices. Like what people do on Twitter? I've known first hand but need academic ref.

Is it fake news that Hindu student #HimankBansal was beaten by Muslim classmates and forced to chant allahu akbar? If not, are leading liberals talking about it? Such incidences of Islamist violence are growing in Hyd. Is this political empowerment for Muslims by Mr. Owaisi? Do we need to talk about these violence or is it normal to have Hindutva violence countered by Islamist violence as and when Muslims can, depending upon their political and demographic strength? Will liberal Muslims, and career liberals speak before its too late?

Bihar, Gaya distt. Rita Devi, 45 yr woman, attacked by a mob of around 200 and burnt to death on suspicion of #witchcraft. If RSS-BJP, Hindutva groups want India to progress and be Vishwaguru, shoudn't they focus on getting rid of these superstitions? All they do is Hindu-Muslim. Attacks, mostly on women or widows, on suspicion of witchcraft are sometimes reported from remote regions of the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and Assam, despite an act which bans witch hunts. NCRB estimates around 2,100 such murders between 2001 and 2012.

Feminism in India was pioneered and monopolized by upper caste Hindu feminists of Communist party. They targeted Brahminical patriarchy, Hindu personal laws but remained silent on patriarchy inside Muslim/Dalit community. Gave a misdirection to feminism forever. It never changed. Today, feminism is non-existent in India. Women's movement is dead. Majority women continue to suffer unspeakable violence, injustices, lagging behind by decades in every field. Meanwhile, women NGOs make money, run one sided narratives, but do nothing for real feminism.

Secularism, liberalism, feminism.. we must speak up against those who are constantly trying to give wrong direction to these issues and giving a bad name to entire movement. Don't let those with vested interests to hijack real issues. Feminism is not mocking Karwa chauth and respecting Hijab as choice. Feminism is critiquing both but also accepting choice and not force to ban or unban anything.

Ram Guha, Tavleen Singh, Nidhi Razdan are some of the biggest Rahul Gandhi haters. They've mocked RG at some of his best moments. Whatever he does they write a nasty tweet or column against him. So what are they saying about #BharatJodoYatra? Let's find out. #Thread Ram Guha

It seems Guha has finally realised he can no longer pass off as a sane human if he continues to mock RG after the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Therefore he has gone silent. Not a single mention of either RG or Yatra or INC on his Twitter timeline since the Yatra launch.

Fun fact, I have never entered a Garba / #Dandiya thing in my entire life. Bengalis have dhunuchi nritya during Durga Puja, at the pandal during aarti and on the day of Visarjan at the river bank. I have done dhunuchi dance but never even seen a #Garba in real life. Garba is a Gujarati thing and most people outside Guj didn't know it until Phalguni Pathak happened. It was not even depicted that much in Bollywood. Now it is a commercial and fashion activity with companies putting in money in advertising, big halls, DJs are hired.

"Life began at 70 for Jagjivan Ram Yadav when he stepped out of Faizabad jail after spending 38 years as an undertrial prisoner without any trial ever."

My report on how the 'bail rule jail exception' principle is selectively applied by Indian courts. nationalheraldindia.com/india/bail-rul… According to Prison Statistics of India Report 2019 ashocking 70% of Indian prisoners are undertrial. Their crime never been proven. In USA this number is a mere 23.03%. Prison occupancy capacity in India is 4,03,739, actual occupancy is 118% i.e. 4,78,600 inmates.

Lakhs of Muslim women in India stepped out of their doors first time during Anti-CAA protests. It took these many years to come out of the walls. Village after village I traveled community meetings were not attended by Muslim women. What's the reason? If not purdah? Most Muslims in India are poor and there's no question of education or jobs or public participation. The rich households allow eduction but not jobs or any public activities. Family, religion strictly control Muslim women's lives even if educated. These are the truth.

Burqa has no place in modern civilized world. Hijab is ok but not burqa. It's not rational or logical for human beings to walk around covering their face fully. I don't care if it's culture of religion or identity marker. Choice argument do not work because choice is conditioned. My issue is that Hindutva gang is attacking Muslim identity. Making religion as the basis. Don't bring religion in school. Why the hell not? Every other school has saraswati vandana in prayer, every annual function start with Ganesh Vandana. Logic/rationality be the basis.

Indian judiciary and executive together doing a disgusting mockery of democratic process when you compare #YatiNarsinghanand getting bail in just a month and Dr kafeel Khan spending a year. Umar Khalid and others still in jail. We should all be ashamed of this. RW pretend they don't know the issue. Muslim leaders getting far more punishments for doing no crime while Hindu religious leaders getting almost no punishment or very little for graver crime. Yati called for genocide, Khan called for unity. State used UAPA selectively.

In all these years I have never understood why Kashmiris want Azadi? India mein kya problem hai? We got freedom in 1947, how can you possibly have a separate freedom? Where will you go with it? I have also not understood how can guns and jails hold on to those who want to leave. I have heard many arguments by separatists, and I can give a counter to each one of them. But because there is already so much bloodshed in Kashmir that I avoid talking about it. I will just say this, militancy to gain azadi, is doomed for eternity.

At the exact time when SC gave decision on #PegasusSnoopgate both India Today and NDTV showing Capt Amrinder Singh's press conference. Technically he is a nobody except an old disgruntled man. But for media he is more imp than SC's decision against Modi govt's snooping. I am watching TV for past 15 mins and they have not yet cut the Capt Amrinder press conference and gone live to Supreme Court. Million times in a Rahul Gandhi presser they had cut abruptly saying, "we have fresh reports coming in, we have to cut in."
