So - unprovoked, #Russia has invaded #Ukraine, breaking international law in the process. You may ask “what can I do” in the face of such an evil power as Putin. Well you are not as powerless as you think. A 🧵 on the small but concrete steps you can take. 1/n
That may, together, have an impact on the Russian state, reducing their economic power, and punishing this blatant agression. Especially considering that our government considered sanctioning 5 banks and 3 individuals to be “hard hitting”. 2/n

My thoughts on the latest Johnson comments. First up - it looks highly likely that Johnson had to be persuaded ‘big time’ to enter a 2nd lockdown. This is for a number of reasons, and we’ll come back to these, but suffice it to say his lack of appetite to lockdown is clear. 1/n.
Reports of Johnson’s reluctance to lockdown spread from the disreputable (yesterday’s Daily Mail headline) to vastly more reputable news sources. @thetimes et al, do not publish such headlines without a strong source in the top-left. So we can be quite sure of their voracity. 2/n

Today 600 people died of a disease that our leaders have chosen not to contain.
For context, that is two passenger planes crashing. 4 months worth of UK road deaths, or the monthly suicide total.
In a single day.
Why do we only care about some avoidable deaths?

It is also the combined total of all UK service personnel killed in action in both Afghanistan and Iraq combined, over a 13 year period.
