Listen here. I write for a Trump-lean outfit where @JesseKellyDC works. I was brought in to give “balance” along with other former @resurgent writers. We give balance and hold nothing back. (cc @captainkudzu @JasonThomas01). Rant thread 1/ A few years ago, I worked with the guy who owns @NoqReport. I do-founded that site and was its first editor. I was removed because I wasn’t inflexible enough on 2A. (I wrote about having a gun friendly culture that accepts regulation vs an outlaw culture that doesn’t). 2/

If this works, it’ll be one for political history. Of course it’s always been Trump. I think we misjudge him at a fundamental level. Thread: Being president has never been Trump’s goal. Oh don’t get me wrong: he’s enjoyed it but for a different reason. Trump is wired differently than we want to believe. 2/

Listen, I have no doubt that on the gauge of niceness, there is no peg to measure Joe Biden. That’s never been the basis of my refusal to vote for him. 1/ Joe Biden might have been fit for the office in 1989. He may have been fit in 1993, or 1997, or even 2001. (Can you imagine Joe Biden responding to 9/11?) He is not fit in 2020 at 78 years old. His party is so far left of mainstream America that... 2/

I have questions. Genuinely curious. If the goal of #BLM and other minority movements is “equality” & “success” is defined as all the stuff they call “white” why do they want it?

Zucker was caught on tape helping "The Boss." CNN went on to cover Trump wall-to-wall in 2016 and makes money off him in 2020. Trump is the media's secret piggy bank and they love (to hate) him.

theresurgent.com/2020/09/14/the… If there’s a bottom to politics, the media lies at its slimy floor. But there’s a cost for writhing in the slime, especially for the workers who have to churn out content day after day while the bosses laugh at Trump’s surging poll numbers.

You know, it’s fine with me if (white) people want to wear BLM pins in support. They don’t usually mean the Marxist organization with that name. They just mean “Black lives matter.” And they do matter. How would you feel if all this venom was spilled because people of another race supported your family and friends and culture being valued instead of stereotyped and feared? It’s not wrong to love our Black brothers and sisters.

I consider @captainkudzu a friend and a consistent, solid writer & political thinker. We disagree on the basic viewpoint of this election. David referred to my "The Titanic Election" in his, telling Trump "You're fired!" I felt I should respond. Thread.

theresurgent.com/2020/09/06/the… 1. I agree that this is the "Dead End" election, but disagree that the course of the Republican Party is salvageable. It's not. The cause was lost around August 8, 2015. The GOP has become the Whigs. Three cheers for Millard Filmore.

You realize @JeffreyGoldberg could find sources who say Trump pledged allegiance to Putin and people would totally buy it. #TrumpMayHaveSaid “Those cops who get killed by thugs are losers” #TrumpMayHaveSaid

Listen #teachers. You are essential workers. Classroom instruction is necessary, not just "better" than remote instruction, which puts many disadvantaged kids at a bigger disadvantage. You know these things, but let fear motivate you more. 1/8 There are other essential workers who don't have the political power or ability to influence their jobs like you do. Postal workers have a union, but you don't see the mail stopped. Police (such as they can) still work. Same with fire and paramedics and nurses and doctors. 2/8

There will be a vaccine for #COVID19 but we haven’t invented one for the economic damage that will take years to heal. 1/ This month, $600 weekly unemployment bonuses end, and tenant protections against eviction end. Millions won’t have August rent money and evictions will soar. 2/

Because had positive GAAP earnings 4 qtrs, it will be added to the S&P500. This means demand from index funds will send the stock even higher & @Tesla will raise more equity cash via secondary offering. That cash will allow Tesla to build out production and increase free cash flow margin while improving logistics and service offering. That will make the vehicles more reliable, cheaper and the supercharger network denser.

In England, if you sit on a church's unfenced lawn, you have the right to be there...or to walk through someone's unwalled back garden. As long as you behave, you can legally trespass on lawns, gardens and fields. Not so in the U.S., private means private. Hence, thread. ... 1/9 Alex Marshall-Brown sat on a church lawn in North Hollywood, and when asked to move (that was not caught on video) from private property, she applied English law instead of saying "oh, this is private property, I'll move." ... 2/ 9

The more I read this site, the more I see it’s 90% fake, and 8% of the remainder is just wrong. That leaves 2/100 of decent commentary. Thread. Most Democrats outside Twitter do love America and want a better future, not a Soviet Amerika. Most Republicans do want leaders with character. Even libertarians want some law and order. But not if you believe Twitter. 2/10

Why is it so hard to believe that a garage pull cord can be tied as a noose and that in this race sensitive environment a black racer could believe it might be intended for him since it was on his assigned garage? I mean, it’s a noose. It’s a pull cord but it’s tied as a noose. It was there since last October and it’s not a hate crime but don’t say it’s not a noose.

Thoughts on this piece from @DavidAFrench. Certainly he’s right. But I think it’s easy to undercount the cost of being bold. Many Christians can’t forfeit a single paycheck without catastrophe. 1/4 How can we say they aren’t bold enough with career and reputation when they have to feed a family and raise kids? I know many who have sold all and become missionaries in other countries. 2/4

Now I’m going down rabbit holes reading old articles I wrote. Here’s one from 2016 about the @Cubs and the World Series. Boy I miss baseball.

sgberman.com/2016/11/05/dea… Here’s when folks rioted over a cop killing a black man in 2016. I said maybe they’ll appreciate law and order after they burn their neighborhood to the ground.

My story with no knock warrants. In the 90s, I ran an ISP & we were involved in a hacking case. A teen. Once we tracked his address, the detectives found the house on a “watch list” bc a felon lived there and there was known drug activity. 1/6 The detective asked a judge for a no knock warrant and it was agreed to quickly, over the phone, with little argument, and the judge signed the order at his home. The PD asked if I wanted to ride along and watch “tactical” ops. 2/6

Just so you know. Fair Fight Action is paid for by a hybrid Super PAC that also funds state Democratic Party activities. This is Stacey Abrams group. My tweet has zero to do with voter disenfranchisement. I was able to vote. Fair Fight PAC spreads its cash around liberally (to liberals). Image

I think protest is a valid and necessary way to express grievances. The black community has valid and real grievances with law enforcement. But #BlackLivesMatter requires acceptance of way more than those facts. 1/ This “intersectionality” is a problem. Because to really be “woke” you can’t accept that the result of decades of social engineering coupled with rent-seeking grifters & politicians have taken the teeth out of civil rights by making it a government thing not a spiritual one. 2/

It was never a question of whether Kaepernick & others who took a knee in the NFL had a right to protest or if their cause was valid. Both are true. It was always about using the platform of the NFL and their team to promote their personal politics 1/4 A millionaire airing grievances on behalf of others using a platform fans pay for and enjoy & owners finance is assuming some privilege/entitlement not granted in that relationship. It’s a form of bullying. Nothing has changed other than 2/4
