🧵Interesting numbers from UEFA about football clubs in Switzerland in season 2022/23
The domestic TV revenue is still insanely low with just 21 Mio €, 19 nations have a higher revenue
The net transfer gain is 24 Mio €, that is the 7th best value of all UEFA nations
With a very low TV revenue, Gate revenue generated from the fans is still crucial for Swiss clubs to survive
But yeah, generally speaking, football isn't sustainable without either cashing in big time internationally or having a rich donor

🚨UEFA RANKING UPDATE🚨
I've still not recovered. What a week🫨
Rarely have I witnessed such massive power shifts in football
Time to take a deep dive what happened and what it all means
This is going to be a long-ass thread. Feel free to RT it, share it or burn it
First, of course, we have to talk about 🇨🇿Czechia
I've seen many things in the years covering the UEFA ranking. But never something like this
Everything clicked: 3 more wins, Sparta and Slavia through in #UEL, Plzen with the perfect group stage
The main problem of Switzerland: besides YB and Basel, no team could gather enough coefficient points to be seeded in the most crucial qualifying rounds.
Time to go back in time. This thread shows the football teams who collected the most points for the UEFA country ranking since season 1955/56, in the last 67 years (!)
First the overall ranking, then I'll provide the stats for the big nations 👇👇👇
OVERALL RANKING
Real Madrid has clearly been the most successful football club in the last 67 years.
Over 150 points collected overall, this is insane.
Bayern and Benfica complete the podium. Also in top 10: Manchester United, Barca, Juventus, Ajax, Porto, Milan, Dynamo Kyiv

Is there any proof out there that a short corner is useful in any ways?
Just bring the ball straight into the danger zone. It's a no brainer for me. I'm always puzzled how many teams are trying this with little success.

I'm also not a big fan of positioning players near the goal posts.
It's classic loss aversion bias. Yes, there are instances where a goal can be prevented that way, but I feel the loss of possible gain is way bigger, since the players are missing elsewhere.

Another 3 victories added this week, stunning! Bodø/Glimt marches towards #UCL, Molde cruses in #UECL qualifiers and Viking wipes away Sligo Rovers 5-1.
