In a statement, the Home Office said that holders of a BNO visa at “imminent risk of destitution” will be able to apply for public funds on a case-by-case basis.

Purely on humanitarian grounds, this is much needed as the majority of BNOs have no way of supporting themselves. That said, expect a major uproar from the UK public where soaring unemployment rates plus record contraction to GDP make the locals increasingly dependant on welfare.

@HKMarkSimon , right hand man to @JimmyLaiApple DMed me amd asked if I wish to write for Apple daily. I have since refused. Note below that Next Digital, the owner of Apple Daily, which suffers from heavy losses for abt a decade seem to focus on fighting some "cause and belief " As they have the money in the bank. What @HKMarkSimon fails to realise is that " money in the bank" belongs solely to the shareholders and not him or Jimmy. The listco duty to the shareholders is to maximize returns and not use their money to fight the #ccp or whatever cause.

Haven't had time to look at this #nationalsecuritylaw fiasco. If BJ were to enact laws similar to those under Art. 23 by amending Annex III of the BL, which deals with national laws of PRC to be applied in #HongKong, this makes for vey bad optics. [Thread] For the record, I support Art. 23. I didn't initially but seeing the destruction to HK in the last 12 months, it is long overdue. However, the filibustering of the Pan Dems make proper passage of this law through Legco impossible, hence the intervention of the NPC.
