In the mid 1970s, our only pastime as kids in Mylapore, Madras was road cricket. Most of us in the area could only contribute around 25 p each for a rubber / tennis ball yet equipment was a challenge. But we had Roshan Lal. Yesterday took the #VandeBharatTrain from Bangalore to Chennai. The excitement was palpable as almost all passengers pulled out their phones to take pics as the majestic train pulled into KSR bang on time at 255 pm from Mysore.👍 The seating inside (we were in E2 coach) is comfortable with ergonomic swivelling seats, wide windows, speed and toilet indicators. As soon as the train departed at 3 pm, all passengers jumped up and started twisting and turning their seats for swivel. 👍

I used to play corporate cricket regularly in Madras but couldn't continue my cricket once I shifted to Bangalore in 1989 for a career move. 2/n

My father was a Railways employee in Kharagpur and three of us - my parents and I were traveling in a first class coach having 4 berths by Howrah mail to Madras, a 2 night journey, for Deepavali holidays.
