According to reporting by AP, 17-year-old Pieper Lewis was charged with first-degree murder after she stabbed and killed her 37-year-old accused rapist, Zachary Brooks. Lewis was 15 years old at the time of the June 2020 killing. 1/3
Lewis was able to plea to involuntary manslaughter and willful injury last year, and despite the fact that those charges were each punishable by up to 10 years in prison, she won’t be serving any jail time so long as she doesn’t violate the terms of her probation.

Sixty-nine-year-old retired #KansasCity detective Roger Golubski appeared in court last week on six counts related to the rape of a woman from 1998 to 2001 and another woman from 1999 to 2002 while he was employed by the Kansas City Police Department. 1/4
Golubski pleaded not guilty and remained in custody, with another hearing set for this coming week.
Golubski's attorney, Morgan Roach, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment after last week's hearing.

Today, we honor the late Trinidadian-born communist & feminist revolutionary, Claudia Jones (1915 - 1964).
Jones joined the Communist Party in the US (CPUSA) in 1936 and by the mid-1940s was the Negro Affairs Editor of The Daily Worker, the official publication of CPUSA.
