This is not surprising and, in fact, characteristic of Trump. The Americans elected as their president a man who was always notorious for not paying his debts and trying to wriggle out of agreements. Apparently, in the the kind of business he was in, this did him not harm.
Foreign policy is not like this. Already the ancients, Greeks and Romans, understood the importance of keeping agreements. This was underscored by giving keeping agreements religious significance and solemn ceremonies accompanying their signing.
This was true of most cultures for most of human history. In later times, when growing secularisation made the religious motive unreliable, other means of ensuring that treaties are kept were created. The concept of “national honor” was one of them.

1/ Russia may be preparing to announce a mass mobilisation, a bad peace deal with the US, or confiscate people's savings to fund the war effort, according to Russian warbloggers. They suspect that the government wants to ban Telegram to block public dissent over such moves. ⬇️ Image
2/ Russian officials have hinted strongly that Telegram, which is currently being slowed down and partly blocked by the government, faces a total ban by 1 April 2026. 'Alex Parker Returns' writes (in a since-deleted post) that the government faces a dilemma:
3/ "Either capitulate in accordance with the renewed spirit of Anchorage—freezing the line of contact, surrendering the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and other whimsical proposals that our esteemed partners will come up with along the way, …

Competitors already know what works.

Analyzing their backlink profiles reveals proven opportunities.

One company had 150–200 authoritative links.

By targeting the same sources strategically, hundreds of new links can be earned in months without guessing.

Here’s a step-by-step approach to reverse engineer link strategies 🧵👇
1/ Why reverse engineering works:

The competitor advantage:

Traditional link building:

- Guess which tactics might work
- Trial and error approach
- Waste time on dead ends
- Unclear ROI

Reverse engineering:

- See exactly what worked for competitors
- Skip failed experiments
- Focus only on proven sources
- Clear success patterns

Competitors already found the opportunities. Use their research.
2/ Identifying the right competitor:

Target selection criteria:

Good competitors to analyze:

- Ranking above you (positions 1-5)
- Similar business model (not giants)
- Achievable domain authority (within 20 DR points)
- Active link building (recent link acquisition)

Poor choices:

- Massive brands (unreplicable advantages)
- Much older domains (historical links impossible)
- Different business type (irrelevant tactics)
- Stagnant profile (no recent activity)

Example: Don't reverse engineer Amazon. Do reverse engineer competitor at DR 55 when you're at DR 38.

After all, since 2019 [1] [2], i.e. much earlier than Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, as suggested by the @FT article [3], the dictator of the RF, V. V. Pootin, has been promoting a revisionist version of the history of WWII with reference to Poland.

A common question about vaccine-associated myocarditis is how the risk compares to myocarditis from SARS-CoV-2 infection (Covid). Having reviewed this data closely, I want to walk through what the studies show and why the answer has changed over time. 🧵
2/ During 2020-2022, infection-associated myocarditis risk was generally higher, though the margins were tighter than people realize. Copland 2024 studied 5.1 million children in England. In unvaccinated adolescent males, infection caused 11 excess myocarditis cases per million. The second vaccine dose caused 9 excess per million.
nature.com/articles/s4146…
3/ Infection also carried risks vaccination did not. 84 excess cases of MIS-C per million in unvaccinated adolescents. And vaccination eliminated these risks: MIS-C and myocarditis following infection were largely absent in kids who'd been vaccinated before getting infected.

The Human Problem: Mimetic Rivalry

Human beings imitate not only behavior but desire. We want what others want. This imitation escalates into rivalry. Rivalry spreads. Crisis follows. When crisis becomes uncontrollable, societies resolve it through a scapegoat.
The community converges on a single victim. The victim is blamed for the chaos. The victim is expelled or killed. Peace returns. The victim is later mythologized as either monster or god. This pattern, lies beneath archaic religion, myth, and even early political order.
Religion, in its ancient form, is born from this violent expulsion. It sacralizes the killing that restored peace. In myth Greek, Roman, Mesopotamian, etc. The victim is guilty. The mob is portrayed as justified. Violence appears sacred. The community’s unity seems righteous.

NEW: The Marylander Condominium needed millions in repairs after Prince George's County stood by as a nearby homeless encampment terrorized the condo.

One bank said it would lend if the county guaranteed the loan.

But the county refused—and now residents are being evicted.🧵 Image
After members of the encampment allegedly vandalized the boiler room, 100 units were left without heat and in violation of local safety codes. The damage prompted building inspectors to deem those units "unfit for human habitation" in December and order their occupants to leave.
The situation made the Marylander toxic to lenders, who feared that it was all but guaranteed to default. Starved for credit and at risk of collapse, the condo found financing from a local bank that agreed to lend on one condition: The county would have to guarantee the loan.

@HellmerMitzi @Anna_Giaritelli It is not cruelty to encourage undocumented foreign nationals to return to their home countries.

America, by law, has not chosen to welcome the entire world to live in our country.

It was cruel for the Biden Administration to lie to them.

Stubb: Is it in U.S. interests that Finland, with its 1,340 km Russia border, has a strong army?

That Sweden and Norway defend the Arctic? That Russia creates no spheres of influence in Europe? Yes. Right now, interests matter more than values.

1/
Stubb: Europe and America’s interests sometimes align, sometimes don’t — values are complicated.

One strand is MAGA, which sees Europe as too liberal, “killing itself with immigration,” and attacks places like London as multicultural melting pots.

2/
Stubb: The other strand is policy — America First. There’s a pecking order: 1) Western Hemisphere, 2) Pacific, 3) Europe, 4) Middle East, 5) Africa. That’s the reality we live in now.

Some notes about the slew of Chinese models coming out (Kimi K2.5, MiniMax, GLM-5 etc) claiming to "match Sonnet / Opus / God in evals at 1/10th of the price"
By far our biggest cost at Lindy is inference, so believe me when I say we've looked at these models very closely (and continue doing so). Their actually delivering on their claims would make a material difference to the business.
But every time we've evaluated them, we've found the same thing: that their real life performance, for agentic behavior, and outside of coding use cases, falls extremely short of what they show on evals.

Somewhat buried lede in Moderna/FDA mrna-1010 seasonal influenza vaccine furore is how reactogenic mRNA was.

Likely only as much as functionally analogous rQIV FluBlok (45ug vs 15mg "traditional" egg) or adjuvanted Fluad (15mg plus MF59), but concerns me RE future pandemic vax.
Doses for a future H5/H7 pandemic are likely to be HIGHER than for more routine seasonal flu boosters like mrna-1010, because H5Nx will be more aggressive systemic illness with minimal prior priming present and we will be in a hurry to gain immunity before major deaths.
Ferret studies on H5 mRNA vaccines have often used doses (e.g. 60ug) that would scale in humans to >250ug, and I don't think that is going to be tolerable.

Always pleased when I see studies using more realistic (smaller) animal doses so that titres obtained are more meaningful.

Why is 🇸🇪 allowing Samidoun to expand while other gov'ts, including in Europe, are cracking down?
Last week, 🇬🇷 authorities detained Samidoun's Europe head Mohammed Khatib, citing “national security" concerns. The group is banned in the 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇮🇱 🇩🇪 for its affiliation w/ the PFLP.
🧵>>Image
NGO Monitor’s new report documents how Samidoun is expanding its operations in Sweden, organizing nationwide demonstrations that promote “armed resistance”. Samidoun members have publicly praised Hamas, Hezbollah, and the PFLP, declaring these groups “our comrades” and “our heroes”. >>Image
Samidoun’s recently detained European Coordinator Mohammed Khatib, a PFLP member, admonished Sweden at the 2024 Gothenburg radical book fair for not offering stronger “support for the resistance.” In 2025, 🇧🇪 revoked his status. >> Image
