A little less than 1 hour until #ArthropodsGotTalent

19 students submitted their candidate species or groups, with the biggest category being interesting #behaviors (9/19)

I think some students are trying to play up the audience for votes w/references to popular films🤣

Winning #arthropods will be posted after #zoology class!🏆🏅

And the winners of #ArthropodsGotTalent Spring 16 are:
1) For coolest antipreatory defense - the bomberdier #beetle !
2) For best parasite - the tongue eating louse!
3) For behavior - the Pacific cleaner #shrimp ! (Called it!🤣)
4) For coolest predator - the tiger beetle!

My #zoology Spring 16 class has spoken, and for coolest antipreatory defense in an #arthropod - the bomberdier #beetle takes the cake!

The #zoology students voted, and the most interesting #arthropod #parasite is ... the tongue-eating louse!

For coolest #behavior , the #zoology students were divided among candidates, but ultimately the pacific cleaner #shrimp is the #arthropod that won!

And the neatest #arthropod #predator of those submitted this year in #zoology was voted to be...the tiger #beetle !

I think I'll use this #ArthropodsGotTalent activity again in #zoology next spring, with some modifications.

Things that worked well:
- anonymous voting on favs via @Socrative
- giving students a PPT template to follow
- specifying a few categories their choices had to fit into

Modifications to #ArthropodsGotTalent will be aimed at accomplishing the following:
- getting more discussion/debate among students
- building better slides (...too many words!!!)

All in all, this was a fun #biodiversity activity & we all learned something new (myself included!)
