#Libya warplanes targeting the detention center of Tajoura, east of #Tripoli. There are reports of #refugees & #migrants injured and dead.
This is not the first time.

@UNHCRLibya refugees need to be evacuated.

@UNHCRLibya #Tajoura Building destroyed, body parts all over the place. Witness confirmed 2 raids. Dozens injured brought to local hospitals. In Tajoura there are ~600ppl & in the building that was shelled ~120.

Refugees were caught at sea & brought back by the Eu-funded Libyan coastguard.

@UNHCRLibya Also last May #Tajoura detention center was targeted by airstrikes. It was not safe and UN was well aware of that. 2 weeks ago @ItalyinLibya have been visiting the center. Was not clear that the center was eventually too close to Daman military camp?

@UNHCRLibya @ItalyinLibya #Libya Video filmed by a survivor, after the airstrike on #Tajoura detention center. Shame to those who claimed (esp In #Italy) that #Libya is a safe place.

#Libya #UmanitarianEvacuation is needed for survivors after Haftar’s deliberate targeting of #Tajoura detention center. "Now we are all outside waiting for help".

#Tajoura

Since 2 nights, ~ 450 survivors are still sleeping outdoor. "We do not want to go back to the cells. The smell of death is very strong & we are afraid of shelling".

Families & women have been offered a "safer" location. The reply: "Relocation for all or nothing".

Another option circulating as the "solution" is you are FREE to leave the detention center.

Survivors of war crimes in #Libya are thinking that being released is not a solution: a)Being out does not mean being free b)It's dangerous b)Human smugglers & militia would benefit

Diplomatic missions in #Libya, UN agencies & int. orgs have been repetitively visiting #Tajoura where refugees were conscripted to work in an adjacent weapons workshop. #Refugees who were detained for 2 years in #Tajoura: “we have been telling them the truth but no one reacted".

From #Tajoura

Since the air strike, survivors are still trapped in the detention centre. They are at risk: arbitrarily detained and exposed to the fightings.

Today, they have organised a peaceful sit-in to ask EU for a safer place.

#Libya is not safe.
1.2 million civilians in #Tripoli are at risk of violence & more than 100,000 have fled their homes since April +1000 dead & more than 5000 wounded. @IOM_Libya confirms that 53 people, including 6 children, were killed & +130 were injured in #Tajoura bombing.
