The far-right spread disinfo on El Paso "siege"/"violence" planned "by Antifa" 3 days before Aug 3 shooting. A peaceful action was planned by native Americans/POC LGBT organization BorderResistance borderresistance.com (no affiliation/mention of antifa) #ElPaso #elpasoshooter
The far-right and the Kremlin carried out an orchestrated attack on antifa for several years. A good thread by @RVAwonk
@RVAwonk “Smear campaigns” are used to create the image of internal enemy and “scape goats.” Since Charlottesville, such campaigns against #Antifa became a compulsory exercise for #AltRight, #Kremlin #trolls and #Bots. #disinformation is an important tool in cyberwar.
@RVAwonk In 2017, a smear-campaign against "alt-left" and "antifa" was orchestrated on 4chan. The online campaign used fake Antifa (an umbrella term for anti-fascist protestors) Twitter accounts to claim anti-fascists promote physically abused women who supported Trump or white supremacy.
@RVAwonk Bots and trolls retweeted all posts with hashtag punchthenazi, including my article debunking the campaign :D medium.com/everyvote/to-p…
@RVAwonk Far-right is doing it now, in 2019, radicalizing the "lone wolves" (see my other thread from today.)
