At the turn of #newyear2020, 1.03 million #hkers took to the street. As one of the largest demonstration since June last year, #hongkongprotestes want to show our persistent thrust for democracy and freedoms in the city under the tyrannical rule of #CCP.
1/ We also send a message to those in prison that HKers won’t forget why we are here. We will carry on with our determination in the new year. However, tyranny is afraid of the will of the people. #Beijing chooses not to answer it bravely, but cowardly suppress it.
2/ It is reported that #hkpolice just adopted a new tactic to surround & arbitrarily arrest HKers, instead of dispersing them. Over 1 m ppl were unreasonably forced to leave in merely 30 mins. 400 #hkers were arbitrarily arrested even though they were just innocent bystanders.
3/ Police also dressed like bandits and pointed guns at civilians, putting ppl in peril in #HKPoliceState. But suppression only sparks more resistance. Resolute and determined, #hkers will not kowtow to this totalitarian regime of #China.
4/ In the new year, we will stay united until democracy and freedom come to our city.
