Pharmacies in Saxony may in future sell the coronavirus antibody test "AProof" freely. This was announced by the Ministry of Social Affairs. The test developed in Leipzig was presented three and a half weeks ago.
In principle, the development of an antibody test should be rated positively, said Health Minister Petra Köpping according to the announcement. However, the regional directorate of Saxony had to evaluate the test.
It is important that medical laypeople can safely handle the antibody test. It is therefore necessary for pharmacists to inform the buyer during the consultation.
The test works like this:
After the blood has been drawn from the finger and transferred to the filter card provided, it is sent to a company's own laboratory and evaluated there.
The result of the qualitative test can be called up via a platform after 48 hours at the latest using a personalized access code. "AProof" costs 49 euros ($57).
