The #G7 are failing in their duty to provide global leadership to end the COVID19 pandemic for everyone everywhere. More than 1m people have died from COVID since G7 leaders last met back in February, when they pledged to increase the global vaccine supply.

COVID-19 related deaths are increasingly concentrated in low- and middle-income countries. This is heart-breaking.

The scale of this inequality is not an accident. It was predictable months ago. President Ramaphosa @CyrilRamaphosa called it “#VaccineApartheid” - and it is.

@CyrilRamaphosa @ChathamHouse We commend the scientific developments that led to effective COVID-19 vaccines, with governments, including many of the #G7 countries, investing over $100 billion on their development. We also welcome vaccine donations through #COVAX, but these can only plug small immediate need.

.@Pfizer committed months ago to give 40m doses to COVAX. But to date they have delivered 1.25m doses, less than one day’s production for them.

The @PeoplesVaccine Alliance calls for three urgent actions:
1. Technologies need to be openly shared via @WHO's C-TAP
2. World leaders, especially #G7 & EU, must follow US & support the #TRIPSwaiver
3. A clear financing plan with G7 taking on their fair share
