“At this time, the cause of death for Peerless Turner is pending. It typically takes 2-4 months for the Coroner’s Office to determine a cause of death.”

One of the children was a patient at the hospital, said Le Bonheur's Dr. Nick Hysmith, a pediatric infectious disease specialist. Another child died during transit to the hospital, he said. The child was coming to the regional hospital from a neighboring hospital.

Although the hospital does not sequence each test result, it is assumed that the children had cases of the #DeltaVariant because of its local dominance, Hysmith said.
