THREAD Thank you to @ewansomerville & @Telegraph for this excellent article exposing @WelshGovernment’s misuse of £1,137,584 of public money on this poorly designed survey. When dealing with children a #safeguarding first approach must be used. They didn’t telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/04/0…

There were so many things wrong with this survey the article was unable to cover them all. They ranged from the merely incompetent/ridiculous to damaging & triggering for vulnerable children. This box ticking approach to #safeguarding & #inclusion is simply unacceptable. #WomenEd

Primary school children are asked how they identify but not for their biological sex. This renders the data worthless, is evidence of the extent of ideological capture & is dangerous & confusing for young children @SHRNWales @DECIPHerCentre @cardiffuni #edutwitter #WalesWomen

Despite the survey starting with virtue signalling about how children identify, there is no acknowledgement of the reality of some children’s families. The children of lesbian parents in our group would not know who to answer this question. This is not inclusive. #DiverseEd

The worst part of this survey is serious child protection issues being presented as neutral or even desirable scenarios. This is a failure of #safeguarding, a failure of quality control, a failure of ethics & a complete dereliction of duty. #edutwitter #WomenEd

The entire thing is appallingly written & bizarre, conflates different issues & will result in no usable data or benefit to disadvantaged children. We thank @LauraJ4SWEast for raising concerns about this misuse of public money & failure of children. END
