Yesterday some interesting footage from #Kherson region appeared on telegram showing 🇷🇺 BM-27 #Urugan launchers on the road with the comment that fields were burning around #Chaplynka due to the launches. I decided to investigate here is my little 🧵

On the photo's there are powerlines visible which i was able to locate to being on the road out of #Chaplynka toward #NovaKakhovka. Also a blue sign can be sign which suggests that it just outside of town. When we look at the #FIRMS data however we do not see fires in this area.
When we look at #Sentinel images for 18-7 however we can see a burnt piece of land just NW of this road near the town of #Preobrazhenka. When we go back one day however this piece of land hasn't burned yet. This makes it a likely launching site according to satellite date.
Another interesting fact is that on 13-7 there are reports that an 🇷🇺 ammo depot was hit in #Chaplynka. on footage we can see ones again powerlines and what seems to a very tall thin structure & the smoke of the explosion to the left.
Location being hit seems to be a warehouse area on the north side of town, close to where the MLRS systems on the road have been spotted. Another interesting location in #Chaplynka is the airport.
The #Chaplynka airport is located just to the south. Different sources pointed me at this place in june, it is supposed to be a forward helicopter base and staging point for re-enforcements coming from #Crimea due to OPSEC i didnt tweet about it. No sign of it being hit yet.
However since #HIMARS arrived it seems #Chaplynka is also a MLRS staging area for attacking advancing 🇺🇦 forces in #Kherson region.🇷🇺 artillery moved away from the front significantly to avoid being hit by 🇺🇦 artillery & HIMARS, this has pushed them to the limit of their MLRS.
BM-27 #Urugan effective range is 35 km. However max. range is 70 km but this effects accuracy significantly and when aimed at urban area's would constitute a warcrime for indiscriminant use of artillery. Attached is a map with the plotted ranges of fire centered on #Chaplynka
This also would mean that 🇺🇦 forces might be closer to #NovaKakhovka then we assumed till now. So interesting times are ahead coming weeks when the 🇺🇦 offensive for #Kherson will take shape
