Exciting news! We’re delighted to announce that a complete set of negatives for the classic #JonPertwee #WorzelGummidge series have been located, 39 years after the show’s first broadcast…
With the original #WorzelGummidge films thought lost for decades, the find includes pristine 16mm negatives for all 30 half-hour episodes, plus the double-length Christmas special, with the majority of the episodes surviving as original camera negatives…
Worzel Book author @stuart_manning, BBC Radio producer @RichardLatto and archive film expert @PaulVanezis confirmed the find back in May this year. With #WorzelGummidge’s 40th anniversary in 2019 fast approaching, we hope a new audience will soon be able to enjoy these films…

As a former journalist and a researcher of the relationship between #news and #socialmedia, I think I understand both sides of the argument over whether tonight's presidential address should be carried live. A few thoughts. #Thread
It's important to look at the decision in itself. Even if you think it violates precedent, and therefore is hypocritical, it may be that the previous decisions were the wrong ones and shouldn't be repeated.
For example, if I used to throw my trash out the car window, arguing that it kept prisoners busy doing litter pickup, that's clearly stupid. If I now know it's dumb and stop doing it, that is a greater good than my being consistent by still doing it.

This week’s “Fugitive of the Week,” Jonathan Lee Currier, 42, was located and arrested today by the Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Belmont, NH. Currier was being sought on multiple arrest warrants, had an extensive criminal history and was an unregistered sex offender.

Emergency alerts were deployed in the US in 1951 via the Control of Electromagnetic Radiation (CONELRAD) system. Fearing a nuclear attack during the Cold War, radios could be tuned to 2 AM frequencies (see triangles) to receive civil defense information 2/ radiomuseum.org/forumdata/user…
As the threat of attack decreased, the desire to expand such a system for use in local emergency coordination allowed for the better known Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) to replace CONELRAD in 1963. You’ve heard EAS on your radios and TVs. 3/

Exciting news! My paper with @michelmorek on The Long-Term Impact of the Earned Income Tax Credit on Children’s Education and Employment Outcomes is now on the Journal of Labor Economics site:

Brief summary:
We find that an additional $1,000 in EITC exposure when a child is 13–18 years old increases the likelihood of completing high school (1.3%), completing college (4.2%), and being employed as a young adult (1.0%) and earnings by 2.2%.
We find larger educ effects for minorities, kids of single-parents, kids with parents that did not go to college.

Economists already knew that the EITC improved health and test scores of young kids; we show that the positive effects of the program last through young adulthood

1/ Lots of talk on Netflix's number of Originals (e.g. 700 in 2018, variety.com/2018/digital/n…, 500 more by January variety.com/2018/digital/n… etc.), but it's important to understand there's no definition of an "Original" - even versus a license - and there are many different flavors
2/ The differences between these flavors is critical to understanding any statement around spend, return, engagement, expectations, growth etc.

For streaming services, there are five core categories.
3/ "True Originals" are shows a service develops, produces and releases. They control all creative, branding, budgets and renewals. They pay only the production cost.
