YOONKOOK AU 💫

Yoongi and Jungkook have never met before, live in separate cities, and have completely different lifestyles. They have no idea that the other person exists.

Then one morning they wake up in each other's bodies and have no idea how to switch back.
@oceansleeps Tags: descriptions of anxiety attacks, swearing, possible smut 🔞 (I haven't decided yet lmao)

This is gonna be loosely based off of kimi no na wa. I hope y'all enjoy!!
Yoongi woke up with a slight pounding in his temples and a very dry mouth. His body felt heavy, like his limbs had been filled with lead. It was like he was hungover, but he didn’t recall drinking that much the night prior.
With a groan, he rolled over onto his side only to come face to face with another man.

His heart leapt into his throat and he moved backwards on the bed so he could put some distance between them.

What the fuck happened last night?
It had been Hoseok’s birthday. They’d gone to a bar for a few celebratory drinks and then Yoongi went home. Home to his own apartment and he definitely did not bring anyone home with him.

Then it hit him.

He wasn’t even in his apartment.
Yoongi was just taking in the bedroom he was in, noticing how foreign it was, when the man beside him grunted and twisted around so he was on his stomach.

He was still facing Yoongi and he couldn’t help but notice how attractive he was. Ashy blond hair, a lip piercing,
glowing skin lit up by the sunlight streaming through the curtains.

Based on looks, he wasn’t really Yoongi’s type.

Then again, if he had enough to drink he’d be totally willing to let this guy take him back to his place.
Yoongi slid his legs out from under the covers and stood, only to fall right back onto the bed.

He didn’t know quite what happened. For a split second when he was upright, it was like he was taller. Then his legs got all wobbly and now…

Now the man in bed beside him was awake.
“Had too much to drink last night?”

When he spoke, Yoongi expected his voice to help him recall his night’s activities, but it didn’t help at all.

“I guess so,” said Yoongi, then immediately frowned.
There was something wrong with his voice. Or maybe it was his hearing?

“Hello?” he said aloud, eyes widening when the word came out higher than his usual voice. “Hellooo.”

The man laughed, propping himself up with a hand. “Are you still drunk, Jungkook?”
Yoongi narrowed his eyes at him. “Jungkook?”

“Uh, yeah, that’s your name…?”

“Well at least I’m not the only one forgetting shit from last night.” Yoongi cleared his throat, hoping that would help with whatever was going with his voice.
“We drank a little, or a lot in your case, and then played Overwatch.” He shrugged. “The usual.”

Yoongi really had no idea what Overwatch was or what this man was talking about, so he just nodded. “Right, well, I should probably be getting home soon so thanks for last night-”
“What the hell are you talking about? You are home, Jungkook.”

“My name is Yoongi,” he said. “And what the hell are you talking about?”

When the man only flashed him a concerned look, Yoongi grew a little panicked. Either his memory was severely compromised or this guy
in front of him was psychotic.

He stood up quickly, his vision blurring once he was on his feet. Why did it feel like he was taller? Why were his legs shaking so badly?

He looked down at himself and gasped. Not only was he wearing pajamas that he definitely did not own, but
his body looked...different.

The skin on his arms was a shade darker, his legs longer, waist smaller.

Yoongi brought his hands up to his face to get a good look at them.
There was a tattoo of a tiny rabbit on his wrist and his fingers were shorter. Nails that he remembered to be chewed down to nearly nothing were now unbitten. A faint scar could be seen on the index finger of his right hand.

“W-what the fuck?” he said aloud, his voice still odd.
“Jungkookie-”

“Stop calling me that!” he shouted.

His eyes scanned the room until he noticed a full body mirror on the back of the bedroom door.

On shaky legs, he moved quickly over to it and nearly fell to his knees with how shocked he was.
“What the hell is going on?”

The man in the mirror’s lips moved when he spoke, but once again it was not his voice.

This person in front of him was taller with a little more muscle. Bigger arms and legs than Yoongi’s. His hair was a vibrant shade of magenta, doe eyes widened.
Yoongi moved closer to the mirror and touched his (not his) lips. He dropped his hand away immediately, surprised that he had felt the touch and a little guilty for touching someone that wasn’t himself.

But it was him.
He couldn’t look at his reflection any longer and when he turned around, he saw the man in the bed crying softly.

His heart lurched a little, knowing now that he was just confused as he was. Yoongi took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind, then walked over to the bed
when he deemed himself ready enough to comfort this guy.

“Hey,” he said gently, sitting on the edge of the bed. “I’m sorry. You know, for snapping at you.”
The man hiccupped and looked at him with watery eyes. “I-I know I should be able to help you through your episodes, b-but I hate seeing you like that so much. Because I know I’m not able to help you-”
His words were starting to slur as he began crying again, so Yoongi hushed him, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Hey, slow down. What kind of episodes?”

“Y-your anxiety attacks.”
Yoongi let out a laugh at his answer. “Well I guess anyone would be having an anxiety attack when you suddenly wake up in someone else’s body.”

Damp eyes blinked at him. “Huh?”

Looking down at his hands that weren’t his hands, Yoongi shook his head. “I think I’m dreaming.”
He looked up. “What’s your name?”

“Taehyung.”

“And this person,” Yoongi touched his chest, “is Jungkook?”

Taehyung frowned. “You’re saying you’re not Jungkook?”
“This is so fucked,” said Yoongi, running his hands over his face. He bumped his nose awkwardly as he ran his fingers down his cheeks, not used to this body he had somehow found himself in.
“You said your name is Yoongi?” Taehyung sat up straighter. “That name sounds familiar.”

Yoongi looked up, excitement gripping him. “Really? Do you think you can remember?”
“I think my boyfriend mentioned something about you in a text recently.” Taehyung reached for the nightstand. “Let me check my phone.”

Suddenly, an idea hit Yoongi.

“Hey, let me make a phone call,” he said, reaching out an impatient hand.
Taehyung handed him his cellphone before narrowing his eyes. “I swear to god, if you’re actually Jungkook and just messing with me, I’m never talking to you again.”

Yoongi waved his hand at him in dismissal as he dialed his phone number into Taehyung’s phone. He put it up
to his ear and let it ring.

It rang and rang.

Rang some more.

Just when he was about to give up, someone answered.

“Hello?” Yoongi asked hesitantly.

There was a brief pause.
“H-hi.”

It was his voice that came through the speaker of the phone.

And it sounded like he’d been crying.
"Jungkook?" Yoongi asked in Jungkook's voice.

"Yoongi?"
Alright that's the end of the update tonight!! Next update is Jungkook's perspective of waking up in a different body.

Thanks for reading!!
~~~~~
Jungkook was startled awake, drenched in sweat, his nightmare still tugging at the edges of his mind.
He didn't remember much of it; just that there had been an explosion. People screaming, a splatter of blood on white tile, his vision going black before he awoke.
Taking a few deep breaths to calm his mind, he rolled over to seek comfort from Taehyung.
But instead of cuddling up against his roommate, he bumped something soft with his elbow, causing a loud yowl to pierce through the silence of the room.
Jungkook's eyes flew open wide as he came face to face with a little white cat.
The cat tilted its head at him before meowing in such a way that made it sound somewhat angry.
Jungkook was surprised to say the least, wondering why there was a cat in his bedroom,
but reached out nonetheless.
As soon as he made contact with its fur, the cat hissed at him and leaped off the bed to run away.
Maybe he was still dreaming.
Jungkook yawned and sat up to stretch out his limbs with his eyes closed. His body felt oddly stiff, his knees and shoulders popping abnormally. He remembered having quite a bit to drink last night, so maybe he fell asleep on the floor before Taehyung moved him onto the bed.
Then he opened his eyes.
A jolt of panic immediately struck him right in the chest.
This...this was not his bedroom.
It wasn't Taehyung's either. In fact, it was a bedroom he'd never seen before. Clothes strewn across the floor, textbooks and papers all over the desk, a pair of headphones connected to a cell phone beside him on the bed.
The first thought that popped into Jungkook's head was that he'd somehow slept walked into someone else's apartment.
He hadn't done anything like that since he was a kid though, so probably not?
And that's when the irrational thoughts started trickling in.
He'd been kidnapped, someone had abducted him in the middle of the night, everything was wrong wrong wrong-
Jungkook inhaled deeply. Counted to five. Exhaled.
He needed to focus, to figure out what was going on, where he was located. There had to be a reasonable explanation for what was happening to him.
Jungkook rose from the bed, wincing when the bedsprings squeaked in protest.
When he stood, a wave of dizziness washed over him. Something felt off, something he couldn't place...
Right. Focus.
He walked over to the desk and peered down at all the papers. Most of them appeared to be things related to music production.
At the top of a wrinkled piece of sheet music, half hidden underneath a textbook, was a name.
Min Yoongi.
The name didn't ring any bells for him, but after further investigation, it appeared that this bedroom belonged to this Min Yoongi person.
A thump behind him made him jump and whirl around to see what the noise had come from.
Thankfully, it was just the same white cat, having bumped open the bathroom door connected to the bedroom.
Sneaking a glance into the bathroom, Jungkook gasped and backed up until his legs hit the bed.
There was definitely someone in there.
He was too afraid to say anything aloud, his words caught in his throat, but he tiptoed over to the bathroom anyway.
His brain was shouting at him to turn around and run away, but he still found himself pushing the door open.
Jungkook was almost disappointed when he found the bathroom to be empty. The figure he saw must’ve been his own, reflected in the bathroom mirror.
He flicked the light on and looked around. There wasn’t much to see; a candle on the counter beside the sink, hair products
in the shower. What you’d expect to find in a bathroom.
That was when he turned to look into the mirror.
The first emotion he felt was numbness. He felt absolutely nothing as he looked at his reflection. He took it all in; blond hair all unruly from sleep, skinny arms,
black t-shirt emphasizing milky skin. Lips were downturned into almost a pout, his eyes narrowed kind of grumpily.
There was a split second where Jungkook thought this man was cute.
But directly after that, there was nothing but panic.
It started with a tingling in his shoulders that developed into whole body shakes, his fists clenching automatically to hide his quivering hands. There was a spike in his chest that branched up into his throat so he couldn’t breathe.
Jungkook’s back hit the wall, his eyes
falling closed so he couldn’t look at his reflection any more. There were so many thoughts flying through his head he couldn’t even find one to focus on.
He registered that he was crying and hyperventilating at the same time,
hot tears causing his eyes to burn the same way his chest burned from lack of air.
Oh god, he was going to die.
His eyes opened when he felt something brush against his leg. It was the cat, looking up at him sadly as it pawed at his ankle.
Jungkook picked up the cat and held it close to his chest, burying his face into soft fur. There was some relief,
listening to the cat purr as if it was trying to comfort him.
He didn’t know how long he was standing there, holding the cat. But he found that he was able to breathe easier, the frantic thoughts dying down.
It was at this time he heard music coming from the bedroom.
Carrying the cat with him, he exited the bathroom to see that the phone on the bed was lit up with a notification that he was getting a phone call.
Jungkook sat down on the bed, wiping the tears out of his eyes so he could see who was calling.
It wasn’t a contact in this person’s phone, but he picked it up anyway, clearing his throat before he answered.
He didn’t say anything, waited for the person on the other line to say something.
Then. “Hello?”
That was Jungkook’s voice.
“Hi,” he said. The word came out watery and cracked, but he recognized that it wasn’t his own voice that came out of his mouth.
There was a deep inhale.
“Jungkook?”
Jungkook closed his eyes, the panic filtering away at once like a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
All he felt was relief when he said, "Yoongi?"
That's the end of that update! Once again thank you for reading!!
In regards to the anxiety attack, I tried to express the feelings it invokes based on my own experience with anxiety so I hope it wasn't too messy!
Yoongi paced outside of the bedroom, absentmindedly chewing on his thumbnail before he realized it wasn’t /his/ thumbnail and it was probably rude to do that to someone else’s body.
He wasn’t able to say anything to Jungkook before he was asking to speak with Taehyung.
Yoongi had felt a pinch of jealousy when he realized Jungkook didn’t want speak to him but what did he expect? He probably just wanted to be comforted by his friend, not some stranger he’d never even met.
While lost in thought, Yoongi stumbled over his feet and glared down at his (Jungkook’s) legs. Why was this kid so damn tall?
This was going to take a lot of getting used to.
The bedroom door opened and Taehyung poked his head out. “I have Jungkookie on Skype if you wanna talk to him?”
Yoongi hesitated. “He’s...you know…?”
“In your body?” Taehyung nodded. “Seems like it.”
Taking a deep breath, Yoongi followed Taehyung back into the bedroom.
An open laptop was sitting on the bed. Taehyung sat down and said, “Hey, Kookie. I got Yoongi here with me.”
“O-okay,” came Yoongi’s voice from the speakers.
Yoongi’s palms began to sweat as he took a seat next to Taehyung, folding his long legs under his body. He heard a gasp and looked up to see...himself.
It was weird, viewing his own body from an outside perspective. Watching himself blink, noticing the little
details he never would’ve noticed just by looking into a reflection.
There was a long silence before Taehyung quickly broke it with a nervous laugh. “I’m still not sure if you two are screwing with me.”
“We’re not,” Yoongi and Jungkook said at the same time, voices overlapping.
Jungkook blushed and looked down at something in his lap.
“Right, so let’s figure out where Jungkook is before we do anything else.” Taehyung gave Yoongi an expectant look.
"I, uh, live in Daegu.”
“Oh!” said Taehyung. “We live in Seoul. What, that’s only about two hours away by train?”
“Two hours?” Jeongguk seemed to curl in on himself, drawing a knee up to his chest.
“We’re gonna come see you right away, sweetie, don’t worry,” said Taehyung reassuringly. Yoongi nodded in agreement, something in his chest aching for Jungkook.
He didn’t like seeing him so lost and lonely now, and especially didn’t like how scared he sounded on the phone
earlier. After all, Yoongi was lucky enough to be with someone when he woke up. But Jungkook had to go through all that alone this morning, by himself.
“I’m gonna have to call into work.” Taehyung began rising from the bed, but Jungkook let out a noise of protest.
“Hyung?” Jungkook asked softly. “Why is this happening? What if we can’t switch back? What if we’re stuck like this forever? What if-”
“Jungkook.”
Jungkook and Taehyung both looked at Yoongi, surprised at him. Even Yoongi was surprised that he’d spoken up, but he couldn’t stand how panicky Jungkook was getting.
“We’re going to figure this out, okay? Just wait a few more hours and we’ll be there. There’s gotta be a reason
for all of this and whatever it is, we’ll fix it.”
Jungkook let out a breath. “Yeah, you’re right. We’ll figure it out.”
Taehyung stood up with a little smile on his face. “I’ll be right back. You two...bond or something.”
Once Taehyung left the room, it was quiet. They were both looking at each other, the shock of being in a different body still having not gone away quite yet.
“I like your cat,” Jungkook blurted suddenly.
Yoongi felt himself smile at the mention of his precious kitten.
“Her name is Allie. Short for Alligator.”
Jungkook burst out laughing, only to immediately stop with widening eyes.
“What is it?”
“Your laugh surprised me,” said Jungkook. “It’s...cute.”
Yoongi felt a little jolt right in his chest at the compliment. Changing the subject, he asked, “Has she been keeping you company?”
“Yeah, she’s sleeping on my lap right now. I’m happy I have something to keep from being alone, even if it is just a cat."
“We’ll be there soon, Jungkook, I promise.”
Jungkook opened his mouth to say something, but Taehyung suddenly burst into the room with a triumphant smile on his face.
“Park Jimin!” he announced.
“You know Jimin?” Yoongi asked. “How?”
“He’s his boyfriend,” Jungkook answered. “They haven’t met in person yet.”
Yoongi felt slightly offended. He considered Jimin to be one of his closest friends even though they only became friends a few months ago.
But he never said anything about a boyfriend?
Taehyung put his hands to his cheeks. “Oh my god, I have to wear something cute. I’ll probably meet him, right? I should text him first to let him know we’re coming, right?”
“Relax, hyung, he’s going to be super excited,” said Jungkook with a chuckle.
Taehyung began mumbling to himself before he left the room, leaving Jungkook and Yoongi alone to talk to each other again.
“You should probably go now. Get ready.” Jungkook covered his face with his hand. “Uh, all my clothes are in the closet if you wanna, um, change.”
Oh. Yoongi hadn’t thought of that. He never really had time to think about being stuck in this body to the point where
he had to change clothes and shower and, well, use the toilet.
Yoongi cleared his throat awkwardly. "I'll change really quick."
"Don't peek," said Jungkook.
"I won't."
They exchanged quick smiles, then ended the call after saying goodbye to one another.
Yoongi truly did try his hardest not to look down whilst changing out of pajamas and into day clothes, but it was difficult, especially considering he was still new to this body.
Without meaning to, he found himself ogling the defined muscle of his stomach and chest, running quick fingers over abs and hipbones.
He pulled his hand away guiltily when Taehyung entered the room.
Taehyung smirked. "I know, he's hot, but hurry up. We don't want to keep him waiting for too long."
Yoongi nodded to him and finished pulling on a hoodie.
As they left the apartment, he realized how nervous he was to be meeting Jungkook. He didn't know why he felt so attached to him already. Obviously there was the whole body switching thing, but there was just...something about him.
"You ready?" Taehyung asked as he locked up the door.
"Ready," Yoongi answered.
That's it for tonight! Tomorrow's update is the meeting between Jungkook and Yoongi, so look forward to that.
Thanks for reading uwu
Jungkook sat in the living room, Allie asleep beside him on the couch, tapping his fingers nervously against his knee.
He’d spent the last hour too afraid to leave the bedroom before deciding that he was being dumb.
The apartment was nice and clean he realized upon exiting the bedroom. Similar to his and Taehyung’s, except no videogames.
Although he was bored and hungry, he didn’t really want to intrude on Yoongi’s personal space. So here he was, sitting on the couch, bored out of his mind
and his stomach gurgling at him angrily.
Then there was a knock on the door.
Jungkook jerked to his feet, heart pounding as the knocking continued.
“Hyung! Get your lazy ass up!” a voice shouted.
Scrambling for the phone on the coffee table, Jungkook called Taehyung’s number, praying that he would answer.
“Everything okay, Kook?” Taehyung asked as soon as he picked up.
“T-there’s someone at the door,” he whispered.
“Shh, calm down. Here’s Yoongi.”
“It’s probably just Hoseok,” said Yoongi. “He’s annoyingly nice, you can let him in.”
Jungkook slowly walked towards the door, the knocking continuing. “Should I tell him?”
“Yeah. Keep me on the phone.”
Jungkook opened the door to see not one, but two men standing outside of Yoongi’s apartment. They were holding hands and one of them had pink hair while the other’s was bright red.
“Hey there sleepyhead!” said the happier looking one, who Jungkook assumed was Hoseok.
The pink haired guy frowned at Jungkook. “You seem different.”
“Put Hoseok on the phone,” instructed Yoongi and Jungkook thrust the phone out for Hoseok to take.
Hoseok looked at him in confusion before taking the phone, answering with a hesitant, “Hello?”
Jungkook watched Hoseok’s reactions while he talked to Yoongi. He couldn’t hear what was being said on Yoongi’s end, but he had pretty good guesses based on Hoseok’s facial expression.
He smiled wide at first, which was immediately replaced by a frown.
He opened his mouth to say something, then closed it again when Yoongi clearly continued talking without letting him speak.
Finally, Hoseok handed the phone back to Jungkook with a look of surprise.
“He knows everything now. We’re on the train now so we’ll be there soon, okay?”
“Thank you,” whispered Jungkook before he hung up.
He met the eyes of the two men in front of him, smiling sheepishly.
“Nice to meet you,” Jungkook said.
Hoseok lurched forward and enveloped him in a hug. Jungkook was shocked at first, but quickly sank into the hug. It wasn’t often that he was hugged by people this much taller than him and he liked it a lot; made him feel small and safe.
“You poor baby!” exclaimed Hoseok, pulling back.
“What the hell is going on?” the pink haired man asked.
“Yoongi-hyung switched bodies with Jungkook,” Hoseok said. “Jungkook, this is my boyfriend, Seokjin.”
“I’m...still confused about what’s going on.”
That’s how Jungkook found himself sitting in between the two men on the couch a few hours later, the three of them watching some sitcom after having explained everything that happened.
Jungkook’s heart was beating fast in his chest.
Yoongi was going to be here any second.
“Hey,” said Hoseok, putting a hand on Jungkook’s knee. “Relax. Hyung’s not that scary, I promise.”
Jungkook shook his head. “I’m...just nervous to meet him. Excited too.”
“You think he’s cute, don’t you?” Seokjin asked without looking up from his phone.
“I-I never said that!” said Jungkook, blushing.
A knock.
Jungkook felt his heart leap straight up into his throat, lodging itself there and refusing to move. Hoseok immediately jumped up from the couch and bonded over to the door.
He opened it and said, “Hey guys!”
“Sinking down into the couch like that won’t make you disappear,” said Seokjin, tugging at Jungkook’s arm. “Come on.”
He saw Taehyung first, who smiled wide when he spotted Jungkook trying to hide behind Seokjin. “Kookie!”
Jungkook found himself wrapped up in Taehyung’s arms and he sighed in relief, burying his face into the elder’s chest. Without meaning to, his eyes started to burn with tears.
“You’re so little,” said Taehyung happily, booping Jungkook on the nose.
“I’m not that little,” came Jungkook’s voice.
Jungkook pulled away from Taehyung to look directly at Yoongi.
It was his body, wearing a hoodie he hadn’t worn in years, hands shoved deep into his pockets. Jungkook couldn’t even begin to describe what it was like seeing his own body right in front of him, but it was definitely one of the weirder things that has ever happened to him.
“Hey,” said Yoongi, sounding almost shy.
“Hi,” said Jungkook.
Then there was silence. It was the two of them looking at one another, the three other men watching them with bated breath.
Seokjin broke the silence.
“So are you guys gonna like, touch each other or something? See if that switches you back?”
Hoseok snorted.
Jungkook froze up as Yoongi walked over to him. When he was right in front of Jungkook, he held out his hand for Jungkook to take.
When Jungkook touched his hand, he registered a bit of electricity flow through him. He felt the drag of his fingers along Yoongi’s palm, skin tingling.
He let his eyes flutter closed and behind his eyelids,
he was in his own body again. His own hand was slowly twining with Yoongi’s long fingers, the touch easing a sigh out of him.
This felt good, it felt familiar.
When he opened his eyes, he was still looking at himself.
They hadn’t switched back, but in that moment Jungkook didn’t really care. Because he was here, with Yoongi, and for some reason that felt so right to him.
Yoongi opened his eyes too, gripping Jungkook’s fingers tightly.
Taehyung spoke up, shattering the silence between them. “So? Did it work?”
“No.”
Yoongi dropped Jungkook’s hand, but slowly, letting his fingers graze the skin of Jungkook’s wrist and palm.
Jungkook missed his touch as soon as it was gone.
“Well, fuck,” Hoseok said. “What now?”
Nobody knew how to respond to that.
Except for Seokjin, apparently, who said, “Google?”
They spent the next couple hours going through various sketchy websites to find some idea on why and how this was going on.
At some point, Yoongi walked over to the couch where Jungkook was to show him something, then ended up sitting next to him.
His thigh was warm against his, and it sent pleasurable tingles up and down Jungkook’s spine.
Then he felt weird because technically, it was his own thigh and-
Whatever.
Hoseok and Seokjin left around eight, claiming that they had some homework to do. It wasn't long after they left that Jungkook noticed his best friend fidgeting and staring down anxiously at his phone.
“Hyung,” said Jungkook. “You can go see him if you want.”
Taehyung looked up. “No...it’s fine. I want to help you guys.”
Despite his words, Jungkook could see the internal struggle on his face. “It’s okay, really. We’ll be just fine looking all this up ourselves.”
“Not that we’re getting anywhere anyway,” Yoongi muttered and Jungkook flashed him a glare.
“A-are you sure?” asked Taehyung, even though he was already getting up and grabbing his jacket.
“Yeah.” Jungkook grinned. “Tell him I said hi.”
Taehyung blew Jungkook a kiss and was out the door in seconds, saying that he’ll probably be back in the morning. He winked suggestively at this statement, then was gone.
Yoongi and Jungkook were left alone.
“So, uh,” Yoongi started, “I kinda...have to pee.”
Jungkook shoved his face in his hands with a groan. “Oh, my god you’re gonna see my dick. This is so embarrassing.”
Yoongi snorted out a laugh and patted Jungkook on the back. “I won’t look, I swear. But if I don’t pee soon your bladder is going to explode. And it’s gonna suck returning to a body with an exploded bladder."
When Yoongi got back from the bathroom, Jungkook was too embarrassed to talk about much of anything at this point. Before long though, Yoongi suggested they get takeout and talk to take their mind off everything.
Jungkook shoved a piece of sweet and sour chicken in his mouth. “Your mouth is much smaller than mine,” he said as he chewed.
“I’m still trying to get used to being this tall,” Yoongi commented, kicking his legs. “I’ve hit my head on so many things today.”
Jungkook set his empty plate on the coffee table and picked up Allie, who’d been lounging in Yoongi’s lap. She purred as he pet her.
“What happens if we can’t figure it out?” Jungkook asked quietly.
Yoongi shrugged. “I think, for right now, we just...live each other’s life. I can’t really afford to miss school or work right now.”
“Neither can I.”
“So we help each other with living different lives.”
Yoongi reached out to grab Jungkook’s hand, hanging onto it tightly. “At least for this week. When the weekend comes around again, we’ll solve this. Okay?”
Jungkook nodded. “Yeah, okay.”
Once they’d finished eating, Jungkook realized how exhausted he was, eyes drooping closed and an article about souls swimming in his vision.
“Let’s get some rest?” Yoongi asked.
They’d silently decided that Yoongi’s bed was big enough for the both of them and Jungkook was grateful when Yoongi clambered in beside him. He liked being close to him (as if being in Yoongi’s body wasn’t close enough).
Yoongi reached over to turn off the lamp, settling in beside Jungkook. Their legs brushed under the covers and Jungkook’s heart thumped happily in his chest.
"Goodnight, Jungkook," Yoongi mumbled, voice already heavy with sleep.
"G'night, Yoongi."
Jungkook shivered and pulled his coat tighter around his body, wondering whether or not Yoongi had wanted to meet him inside or outside the coffee shop. He texted him and asked, but he hadn’t gotten a response yet.
Since Yoongi was clearly running late, he decided it would be best to just go inside before he froze to death.
When he walked up to the counter he briefly wondered if he should order them both coffees but before he could decide on what to get Yoongi, the barista was already
asking him what he wanted.
He stuttered out a “small mocha please” and when she handed him back his change, his hands were shaking so bad that he dropped half of them on the floor.
His face heated up, blood pounding in his ears, already looking for an excuse to run right out of there. He squeaked out an apology, anxiety building up in his throat and-
“Hey, baby.”
A hand touched Jungkook’s shoulder and he closed his eyes immediately. He saw Yoongi standing beside him, smiling softly as he picked up the change he’d dropped.
When his eyes opened, it was still Yoongi, but in Jungkook’s body.
“You go sit down,” said Yoongi. “I’ll bring over your drink.”
“O-okay,” was all Jungkook managed to say before he was rushing to a table in the very back of the coffee shop.
He sat down and shoved his face into his hands to ease some of the panic still pent up in his chest. Yoongi was here now. Jungkook was fine, there was no need to be all freaked out over nothing.
Sometimes he really hated this about himself, how panicked he got in new situations.
“You okay?”
Jungkook looked up to see Yoongi taking a seat, placing his mocha on the table in front of Jungkook. He was holding a mug of his own, steam swirling up and out of the dark liquid.
“Yeah, I’m...fine.” Jungkook took a deep breath. “Sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing?” Yoongi laughed.
“For being weird, I guess.”
“You’re not weird for having anxiety, Jungkook.”
Jungkook just shrugged and hurried to change the subject. “How was the train ride here?”
“I slept for most of it. How’re you?”
“I’m good.” Jungkook smiled. “Happy that you’re here.”
Yoongi returned his smile and reached across the table to hold Jungkook’s hand. “I’m happy I’m here too.”
Jungkook looked down at their intertwined hands and felt his heart kick.
They spent quite some time at the coffee shop, catching up on everything going on in their lives. Yoongi complained about Jungkook’s job and Jungkook complained about the difficult classes Yoongi was taking.
At one point, Jungkook started to ask about what they were going to do with their “situation”, but Yoongi just shook his head.
“Tomorrow,” he said. “We’ll deal with it tomorrow. For now I just wanna enjoy our date. Without worrying about anything.”
Jungkook was more than happy to agree with him.
He was even more happy about the fact that Yoongi never let go of his hand throughout the entire date.
It was a little past three in the afternoon when they decided to leave to go to Yoongi’s apartment.
They ate some ramen and watched television before finally climbing into bed together, Allie curled up by their feet.
“Can I…?” Jungkook blushed and held out his arms for emphasis.
Yoongi chuckled at him and pulled him close.
Jungkook loved this; being wrapped up in Yoongi’s arms. It was a little weird, resting his head on his own chest,
listening to his own heartbeat that was also Yoongi’s.
“It kinda feels like we’re one person,” Jungkook murmured.
Yoongi hummed in response, intertwining their legs under the covers.
“Have you noticed that, when we touch with our eyes closed, we switch back?” Yoongi asked.
“Yeah. And it feels like I’m still in your body but I’m back in mine at the same time.”
Jungkook closed his eyes and he could see it. Back in his own body, Yoongi’s arms around his torso, face buried in his hair.
“This is going to sound stupid, but I’m really glad this happened to us,” said Yoongi.
“I’ve felt alone for a really long time and now that I’ve met you, I don’t feel lonely anymore.”
Jungkook understood that completely. It had always felt like there was a piece of him missing, but now…
Now there was Yoongi.
This past week had been the most stressful of his entire life. The anxiety was always lingering around him, ready to pounce at any given moment.
But he still had Yoongi. There was always Yoongi, texting him and wishing him good luck before every class. Skyping him or calling him
every night after a long day. He was there, every time, a light in Jungkook’s life that kept all the bad things at bay.
“Hey, Jungkook?”
“Yeah?”
“Can you close your eyes for me?”
Jungkook did so without hesitation. He could feel Yoongi get closer and closer to him, his breath fanning over his face. Although his eyes were closed, Jungkook knew that if he were to move forward he’d be kissing Yoongi.
“Is it okay if I kiss you?”
When Yoongi kissed him, he felt like he was floating.
He kissed Jungkook ever so softly, just a brush of lips against his. Gentle, but enough to make Jungkook ache for more.
And then Yoongi opened his mouth and Jungkook’s opened with his, like a flower blooming.
A whine made its way past Jungkook's lips when Yoongi’s tongue flicked against his.
This feeling was indescribable.
Jungkook was sinking into the mattress, sinking into Yoongi, his whole body light as a feather and immensely heavy all at once.
In that moment, with their eyes closed, they were back in their bodies. It was just Yoongi and Jungkook, kissing in Yoongi’s bed.
And it was so natural that it was like they’d been together for years.
Once they broke the kiss, it took Jungkook a moment to regain his senses. He blinked a few times then grinned when Yoongi pressed a kiss against the side of his neck.
"You're really special to me, Jungkook."
Jungkook’s chest filled with an affectionate warmth and he snuggled in close to Yoongi. “I really really like you.”
“I like you too, baby.”
It wasn't long before they were both fast asleep, limbs tangled and faces inches apart.
That's the end of that update!! I'm guessing that there will be about three more parts and then it's the end?
Ahhh I hope everyone is enjoying it and thank you so much to all the frequent readers 🙈
Yoongi’s friend, Namjoon, was extremely excited about the situation.
As soon as he entered the apartment, he looked back and forth between Jungkook and Yoongi, then let out a soft, “Oh wow.”
The three of them all settled in the living room and Namjoon started off by saying, “I’ve read a few books for school about this, but I don’t have one specific theory on why this is happening.”
Yoongi sighed and Jungkook reached out to squeeze his hand reassuringly.
“But,” said Namjoon, “usually body swapping in literature happens between two people with very different lives. Is that the case with you two?”
“Uh, not really,” Jungkook said. “We have pretty similar lives. Both of us have jobs, we go to school…”
Namjoon hummed and leaned back in his seat. “Have your lives improved since you’ve switched?”
“Yes,” said both Jungkook and Yoongi at the same time.
“How?”
“I told Jungkook last night that I’ve had a bit of an, uh, loneliness problem before him.” Yoongi said, a little shy. “I’m not really all that lonely when I talk to him.”
Jungkook couldn’t hold back the smile that rose to his face, happy tingles spreading all throughout his body
“What about you, Jungkook?”
“Um, well...I struggled, still struggle, with anxiety,” explained Jungkook. “Being somewhat forced to do all these things as Yoongi has helped with it a bit. Talking to him helps me a lot too.”
Namjoon took a deep breath. “If that’s the case, I don’t know why you haven’t switched back yet.”
Jungkook’s heart sank. He just wanted to touch and kiss Yoongi for real, not just when he had his eyes closed. He missed Taehyung and his apartment and the few acquaintances
he made from classes. He even missed his job.
“Well, I once read a book where two people switched bodies because of an upcoming traumatic event,” said Namjoon thoughtfully.
“And what happened?” Yoongi asked.
“They prevented the event from happening, but that was only because they were living different timelines. And you two are clearly in the same timeline.”
“So what you’re saying is that we may have to prevent a traumatic event from happening without even knowing
when it’s happening? Or what it’ll be?”
Namjoon simply nodded.
Yoongi groaned and collapsed back against the couch. “Awesome.”
“Let me know how it goes!” said Namjoon with a big smile.
~~~

Jungkook and Yoongi exchanged several stolen kisses before it was finally time for Yoongi to leave Monday morning.

He found it to be extremely difficult to tear himself away from Jungkook. In his lifetime he’d kissed many people, but nothing compared to this.
It was a few days later when Yoongi found himself walking the streets of Seoul by himself, planning out his next date with Jungkook that would probably take place the following weekend.

He wanted to do something special, like take him to a festival or something.
Jungkook mentioned over Skype one night that he’d always wanted to kiss someone on top of a ferris wheel and Yoongi was more than happy to make that wish come true.

Yoongi wandered into a large shopping center.
People were leaving due to the stores closing soon, but Yoongi was hoping to find a present for Jungkook before he saw him next.

It happened while he was in an expensive jewelry store,
desperately wishing that someday he would have enough money to buy Jungkook pretty, expensive things like this.

Everything kind of happened all at once. Yoongi wasn't even sure why or how it occurred, but it started with shouting from behind him.
Quick note from the writer: there will be a short description of blood in the next few parts. It's nothing too graphic but I just wanted to put a warning just in case!
Then there was what sounded like a gunshot.

Yoongi's first thought was that things like this didn't actually happen. It was something that was supposed to only be in movies, not in a shopping center in Seoul.

But then there was another sound, once again like a gunshot, and
Yoongi was on the ground.

He registered a pleasant warmth in his chest that quickly turned to pain. It spread throughout his body and in the distance he heard screaming.
Yoongi was so confused on what was going on, but through the haze of pain he realized that he'd probably been shot.

At some point, he felt hands on him, a voice talking to him. Someone rolled him over.

Beside him, a bright red liquid was making a pool on the white tiles.
Yoongi's vision faded to black.
Yay end of update!! Only a couple more until the end!

Thank you for reading, I hope y'all are enjoying it so far!!
~~~
Yoongi woke up gasping, hands grabbing at his chest. The memory of pain made him groan, doubling over as his fingers clenched around his t-shirt.
When his breathing finally evened out, he straightened and look down at himself.
He realized two things.
The first was that he was no longer bleeding out. There wasn’t a drop of blood in sight.
The second thing was that he was back in his own body.
Fear shot through him.
Jungkook.
Yoongi jumped from his bed and scrambled for his phone, heart pounding and tears burning at the corners of his eyes. He couldn’t be gone, he couldn't be-
Jungkook didn’t answer his phone.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” Yoongi swore, clicking on Taehyung’s contact and pressing the call button.
Taehyung answered on the third ring with a mumbled, “Hello?”
“Is Jungkook with you?” Yoongi asked immediately.
It was quiet for a moment. “Uh, yeah. Who is this?”
“It’s Yoongi. Can I talk to him?”
“Sure.”
Yoongi didn’t have time to be confused by why Taehyung sounded so...off, before Jungkook was answering the phone with a small, “Hi?”
Relief flooded through Yoongi, so forceful that he dropped to his knees beside the bed. “Jungkook, fuck baby I’m so glad you’re okay.”
“W-who is this?”
Yoongi froze. “Yoongi.”
Jungkook was silent.
Then, “I’m sorry, are you from one of my classes?”
Yoongi felt like was going to throw up. “Jungkook this really isn’t funny. You know me.”
Jungkook laughed, but it sounded forced and nervous. “I’m sorry, but I really don’t remember.”
Yoongi hung up the phone and rushed into the bathroom to promptly puke in the toilet.
He felt wretched. His whole body was shaking, stomach rolling.
Why couldn’t Jungkook remember him?
He thought back to all their moments together. Yoongi knew those were real; their kisses, waking up in bed with him, the Skype calls late at night…
It wasn't long before Yoongi realized he was forgetting things too.
What was the last thing they talked about? Was Yoongi the one who kissed Jungkook first? Who was Jungkook’s best friend?
"Dammit,” Yoongi snapped, slapping the palm of his hand against his forehead.
The more he thought about it, the more he was forgetting.
What was Jungkook’s major? What was Jungkook’s favorite food? What color was Jungkook’s hair?
Yoongi scrambled to his feet as soon as he realized he had almost forgotten Jungkook’s name.
“Jungkook, Jungkook, Jungkook.”
He rushed into his bedroom and tore the desk apart searching for a sharpie. As soon as he located one he ripped off the cap and wrote Jungkook’s name in large letters on his forearm.
“His name is Jungkook,” Yoongi said to himself. “He lives in Seoul. He hates bitter foods and loves video games. The first time he ever got drunk he got a tattoo of a bunny. I love him. I love Jungkook.”
He repeated the words to himself over and over again as he picked up his phone. It was still February twenty-seventh, but…
But it was six o’clock in the evening.
Three hours before he’d been shot in that shopping center.
As soon as he began to panic, Yoongi tried to think logically.
There was a chance Jungkook wouldn’t even be going to the shopping center. It was Yoongi’s choice to go and there was a slim possibility that Jungkook would make the same decision.
But Namjoon had said something like this might happen. A traumatic event that they had to prevent from happening.
What if this was it? What if Yoongi had to save Jungkook?
He couldn't risk not going.
Yoongi began throwing on random clothes, searching through his phone until he recognized Taehyung’s name.
“Listen I don’t know what your problem is but-”
“Taehyung, you need to listen to me,” said Yoongi as he ran out of his apartment. “You can’t let Jungkook leave the apartment.”
“What? Why?” Taehyung asked. “Who are you?”
“I need you to trust me. Jungkook is going to get seriously hurt if you let him leave, do you understand me?”
“What the hell are you talking about? He already left-”
"Dammit!" Yoongi snapped, interrupting Taehyung.
Yoongi finally exited his apartment building and practically ran down the street, people giving him odd looks as he rushed past.
“Call him,” Yoongi said.
“Fuck, okay, okay.”
Yoongi heard Taehyung muttering to himself for a while, then…
“Godammit Jungkook. I always, always tell him to bring his phone with him!”
Yoongi’s heart sank. “What’s going on?”
“He left his phone here.”
“Okay, Taehyung?”
“Yeah?” His voice came out wavering. Scared.
“I need you to go to that shopping center that’s a few blocks from your apartment. Let them know that there’s going to be a robbery later tonight.”
"Alright, but how-"
“And then I need you to wait there. If you see Jungkook, get him out of there as soon as possible. Okay?”
Taehyung was softly crying now. “O-okay.”
“Hey, Tae, it’s going to be fine. I’m on my way there right now."
Taehyung sniffled. "Yoongi?"
"Yeah?"
"I don't remember you exactly, but I know your voice. It's familiar."
Taehyung let out a sigh. "Jungkook's my best friend. Please keep him safe."
Yoongi stopped and looked up at the sky. Dark grey clouds were rapidly forming, frigid air biting at the exposed skin of his face.
It was going to snow.
"Yeah," said Yoongi. "I'll keep him safe."
ONE MORE UPDATE UNTIL THE END SO THIS SHOULD BE DONE TOMORROW!!
Thanks for reading 🤧💕
~~~

The train ride to Seoul felt impossibly long. It was like hours had passed when in reality, Yoongi had only gotten on the train fifteen minutes ago.

He missed Jungkook’s body. It was like he was more uncomfortable back in his own body than he was when he was in Jungkook’s.
Throughout the train ride, he found himself forgetting Jungkook’s name before he would yank his sleeve up and look at the letters on his arm. The black marker was a little smeared and messy, but whenever he saw it a breeze of relief went through him.
He kept repeating the things he remembered about Jungkook. He was so, so afraid that he would forget. That, when he finally got to Jungkook, he would forget what he looked like altogether. That he would walk right past him without realizing it.
Yoongi didn’t want to think about what would happen if Jungkook didn't even remember him.
As Yoongi was exiting the train two hours later, his phone started buzzing in his back pocket.

When he read Taehyung’s name he immediately answered and asked, “Did you find him?”
“No, but they arrested the guy who was gonna rob the jewelry store,” said Taehyung. “They won’t let me leave right now ‘cause they still have to ask me more questions but…”

“Do you have any idea where Jungkook might be?”
Taehyung sighed. “He didn’t say where he was going before he left. Just come to the shopping mall and maybe you’ll run into him on the way here.”

Yoongi didn’t think it was likely, but what else could he do?

“Okay, I’ll be there in about fifteen minutes.”
It was snowing steadily here in Seoul too. The city was still as bright as usual, with all the flashing signs and billboards on the side of large buildings. Yoongi liked to look up and watch the snow swirl down around him.
He moved quickly along the sidewalks, bumping into people and mumbling out a quick apology before he rushed on. He found that he was pulling up his sleeve more and more often.

He’d also forgotten what Jungkook looked like.
Whenever he tried to remember, all that popped up was a blur. He couldn’t remember Jungkook’s laugh or his smile, what his eyes were like, or what his lips were like against his.

That was one thing Yoongi refused to forget; the kiss they shared.
Even though that was all just a hazy memory at this point, he would not let that moment completely fade away.

He was almost to the shopping center when he picked up on a conversation between two teenage girls walking past him.
“I just hope all this snow doesn’t cancel it,” one of them said.

“I want to ride the ferris wheel at least once before we leave,” responded the other.

Yoongi spun around and caught up with them. “There’s a ferris wheel around here?” he asked, ignoring the look of surprise on
their faces at his abrupt presence.

“Uh, yeah. For the festival?”

“Yeah, but they might be cancelling it tonight if the snow gets any worse.”

Yoongi knew, he knew that this was where Jungkook was.
Once the girls pointed him in the direction of where the festival was being held, he ran.

He ran until his legs and chest burned, until he was sweating underneath his large jacket. He ran until he couldn’t any more, but by then he had found himself at the festival.
The streets around the area had been blocked off and people milled around everywhere. There was the sound of laughter and music, the smell of fried foods in the air.

A colorful ferris wheel was partly hidden behind one of the tall buildings, spinning gently through the night sky
Yoongi made a beeline towards it, eyes scanning all the faces of the people walking past him. Although Yoongi couldn’t quite remember Jungkook’s face, he was sure that if he were to see him, he’d know it was him.

He had to recognize him.
The ferris wheel was much larger up close. Children were laughing maniacally above his head as the carts at the top began to make their slow descent down again. He watched everyone that got off, but none of them were Jungkook.
Somehow Yoongi found himself in line for the ride, his hopes deflating with every passing second. He wanted to see Jungkook so badly, to hold him and reassure himself that he was alive. It was a sharp pain right in his chest, spreading throughout his whole body.
He hurt so bad, knowing that he was going to forget him soon.

“I’m sorry, but we’re closing the ride due to the snow, sir.”

Yoongi glanced up at the attendant, now realizing he made it to the front of the line.

“Oh,” said Yoongi.
“Looks there’s more room over here!” said one of the other attendants.

“Do you mind sharing a cart with someone?”

Yoongi shrugged and was led to the last available cart where a young man with dark hair was sitting. He looked up when Yoongi stepped in and sat down opposite him.
The ride started up and they began to rise.
Yoongi had forgotten who he was looking for, but he was too tired to lift up his sleeve and look. He was aware that he was going to forget about him soon, whoever it was. All these feelings were slowly dissipating, like the snow melting on the pavement far below.
“You look sad,” the man across from him said.

For the first time, Yoongi took a good look at him. He was pretty; lips and cheeks red from the cold, hair windswept across his forehead.

He kind of looked sad too.

“Yeah, so do you,” responded Yoongi.
The man shrugged. “I am. Don’t know why though.”

Yoongi hummed in response and glanced down at the city. It was still bright and loud down there, so far away from him. He felt lonely, looking at everyone enjoying the festival.

He’d forgotten why he was in Seoul.
“I didn’t mean to bother you.”

Yoongi looked over at him again, watched as he ducked his head in embarrassment and scratched the back of his neck.

“It’s okay,” Yoongi said.

“I...don’t usually talk to people like this. You just looked so upset that I…”
He trailed off and Yoongi looked away again, letting his vision go blurry. The lights of Seoul bled together and he only focused again when the ride jerked to a halt at the bottom.

Once they’d gotten off the ride, the man walked beside Yoongi for a little.
“I hope you feel better soon,” he mumbled. “See ya.”

Yoongi waved goodbye and they parted.
There was something about him that made Yoongi's head go all light and fuzzy.

He watched him walk away for a moment before he turned and went in the opposite direction.
Now he had to get on a train back to Daegu. Why the hell did he decide to come all the way to Seoul just for a dumb festival? He never did stuff like this, unless Hoseok was the one dragging him along.
He sighed and rolled up his sleeve to look at his watch, then sighed again when he realized he forgot to put one on this morning.

That’s when he noticed it; the black smudge on his arm.
Confused, he slowly lifted up his sleeve, revealing more black marks on his skin.

It took him a moment to realize what it meant.

“Jungkook,” he whispered to himself.
Everything came rushing back.
Why he was in Seoul, who he was looking for…

“Jungkook,” he said again.

He turned around and ran in the direction that Jungkook had gone.
He couldn’t believe he’d let him slip through his fingers like that. He’d been sitting right in front of him and Yoongi hadn’t realized it was him.

Yoongi spotted him, sitting on a bench at the edge of the park, arms wrapped around himself.

It looked like he was crying.
“Hey,” said Yoongi, taking a seat by him.

His heart was going a mile a minute, only increasing in speed when Jungkook looked up at him. He remembered everything now; the kiss, the talks, holding him in his arms.

God, he missed him.
Jungkook sniffled and wiped his eyes. “I don’t know why I’m crying.”

“That’s okay.”

Yoongi shed his jacket and handed it to him. “Put this on, you’re shivering.”
Taking it with a soft thank you, Jungkook wrapped it around himself and inhaled deeply. His eyes widened a little and his head jerked up to look at Yoongi.

“W-who…?”
Unable to resist touching him any longer, Yoongi reached out to wipe away Jungkook’s stray tears. “I’ve missed you, Jungkook.”

Jungkook closed his eyes and leaned into the touch.
When Jungkook opened his eyes again, they were shinging.

"I remember you. Yoongi."
Suddenly Yoongi’s arms were filled with a sobbing Jungkook. He was saying that he was sorry, so sorry that he forgot him and Yoongi ran his hand through his hair, telling him it was okay.
When Jungkook broke away he gave him a watery smile. “I knew you were familiar. As soon as you sat down in front of me, there was something about you…”

Yoongi couldn’t find it in himself to stop touching him, hands roaming up and down his sides.
“Maybe I would’ve recognized you if you still had that bright red hair.”

Jungkook touched the top of his head self consciously. “I dyed it earlier today. D-do you like it?”
“I love it.” Yoongi moved forward to kiss Jungkook’s forehead. “I love you, baby.”

“I love you too, Yoongi.”
Yoongi wasn’t sure how long they sat there, wrapped up in each other. It was nice, being able to hold Jungkook, to actually hold him. He felt so utterly complete being with him that he didn’t even care that they were both shivering as snow fell around them.
It was only when Taehyung called, demanding that they come home right away that they decided to finally get up and leave.

Jungkook reached out and twined his fingers within Yoongi’s.
“I can’t stop looking at you,” he said.

Yoongi shook his head. “I can’t stop looking at you either.”

He found himself staring at Jungkook's pretty lips, an ache building up his chest.

Jungkook beat him to it.

“Can I kiss you?” Jungkook asked. “I really need to kiss you.”
Grabbing onto the back of his neck, Yoongi tugged Jungkook down so his lips were pressed against his.

He tasted like the snow.

He tasted like home.
Right then, it was simply Yoongi kissing Jungkook and Jungkook kissing Yoongi.

No body swapping, no intervention from the universe.

Just. Yoongi and Jungkook kissing under snowfall.
And when Yoongi opened his eyes, all he saw was Jungkook.
