Okay, here is some more information on a very serious error. A technical glitch or programming mistake redirected all The Correspondent's articles in English to the home page. This had the effect of breaking those URLs, including @sarahkendzior's articles in English.... 1/
These articles were NOT deleted. But because of this error they were inaccessible, which from the writer or reader's POV is... same difference. The same thing happened with this article, not by Sarah, also in English. thecorrespondent.com/7056/why-elect… It redirects to the home. page... 2/
Sarah's work WILL be restored and the URL's will remain the same. The team in Amsterdam is working on that now. The Dutch versions of her articles were not affected and they remain online. That is what I know at this time. Watch @The_Corres for updates. 3/

Over the last few days, it's become clearer and clearer to me that, without intervention, coverage of the 2020 campaign is likely to be a disaster for everyone except Trump and his core voters, who want to watch it all burn anyway. In this thread I describe the danger I see. 1/
By "disaster for everyone," I mean all candidates opposing Trump, journalists themselves, voters from all sides (except those who have exited from the news system by merging with his hate campaign against the news media) and anyone who seeks the repair of American democracy. 2/
Start with the simple fact of inertia. In ruins after the debacle of 2016, the horse race model and "game" schema that have instructed campaign journalism for at least 40 years are up and running again. It appears the bosses have no better ideas, and no will to develop them. 3/

I asked @DavidMDrucker where he got his statement in Vanity Fair that "Trump brings a certain gravitas" to the presidency, since I have never heard anyone in either party observe that, and all the evidence contradicts it. vanityfair.com/news/2018/12/w… He answered me. Next slide please.
This is his answer. Apparently anonymous sources in the party told him that, and he worded the conclusion so it reads as a natural fact— not "insiders in the party say..." but just something everyone knows. Gravitas.
Still, the entertainment value in this explanation should be credited. "Listen, you didn't get this from me, okay? But Trump brings a certain gravitas to the presidency..." Anonymous sources say their guy is awesome.

I don't know how our journalists came to see "storytelling" as the heart of what they do, and "storyteller" as a self-description. I can think of 4-5 elements of journalism more central than "story." Truthtelling, grounding public conversation in fact, verification... listening.

As more #MAGABomber info is released, remember that prosecutors believed right wing media incited a mass shooting that killed six people in Quebec City last year.

Ben Shapiro was by far the killer's favorite pundit. He reviewed Ben's content intensively before the slaughter.
.@benshapiro is already claiming he did not incite the mail bomber. Several months ago, prosecutors discovered that the Quebec City mosque shooter who killed six people was a Shapiro superfan, studied Ben's anti-Islam content obsessively. These are the facts, Ben is in hot water.

So, let me speak on the Tether issue again because it's been a while.

This is something that the entire Bitcoin community needs to worry about, because I think there's a HIGH likelihood that Tether will be forced to cease all of their operations in the United States.
"But dude! There's no proof that Tether isn't backed by real reserves!"

Okay, that's not the issue here. The issue here is that Tether is issuing a SECURITY in the United States.

I want to go into more detail about the tweet below. If you don’t know who Tom Barrack is, he’s considered one of Trump’s closest friends and a trusted outside advisor. #trumprussia
Barrack doesn’t get much attention for a lot of reasons. Unlike a lot of people in Trump’s orbit, he’s affable, intelligent, and comes off as a genuinely decent guy. He shuns the limelight and turned down an offer to join Trump’s cabinet.
He’s a brilliant real estate investor who specializes in buying distressed properties. He got his big break doing business for the Saudis and maintains strong ties to the kingdom (as well as Qatar and UAE).
