What a night! 😮 The ‘12 Demos Of Xmas’ was crazily ambitious, *slightly* longer than 12 mins (sorry @robinince & @ProfBrianCox 😬), but so much fun & so much mess!
Thank you for the lovely tweets re it and kind words IRL after gig.
Huge thanks to two amazing guys without whom that couldn’t have happened: @MatthewTosh - Pyrotechnician and H&S pro - and Chemist extraordinaire @StockburnChem from @UCLan 🙏
Thanks also to my sidekick in life @maddiemoate for helping out (#DoYouKnow she’s amazing at making giant crackers?!) & to @beardyman + @FOTSN for joining on stage & being great humans. Btw Beardyman is epic live!! And ofc thank you @ProfBrianCox & @robinince - amazing night
Alsoooo thanks @stevepretty and the band for the musical accompaniment to my 12 Demos Of Xmas tonight. And the whole evening! They’re on stage for hours at a #compendium, work super hard, and bring so much energy and fun to the evening 🙏

Gloriously nerdy tech day!! I'm upgrading the spare room studio to incl live talk back with a producer in a remote studio + more for #BigBangDigital next week. I'm hosting & the live guests + stories of #stem efforts during the pandemic are inspiring! digitalbigbang.co.uk
I hosted 6 daily conversations exploring how to transform our world 🌍 (each on a different @unitednations Sustainable Development Goal) plus the @FameLab UK Final LIVE from 'the spare room studio'
(continued 👇)
The @FameLab UK Final was ambitious: finalists' presentations were pre-recorded but I suggested we do the event live so we could incorporate live comments & reveal winner live on Skype! I was handling the stream, tech, 15 VTs and doing links live from the spare room studio! 😅
The SDG conversations were pre-recorded with each guest recording locally on phones. I had two cameras set-up in studio - one for Zoom plus a wide.
They were such interesting conversations. Big thanks to all my guests, @UKRI_News for the support and the @CheltSciFest team
Realised old laptop had previous version of software, checked DLSR input, and bingo. So, reloaded all show assets (LOTS of videos, pics and sfx) and quickly realised it wouldn't handle the Infrared Camera + Aquascope WebCam + DLSR + laptop cam + assets 🤦♂️

Realised I could use old iPhone as wide shot (old because I now use a Samsung and software only works with Apple phones) so switched back to original higher spec laptop
BOOM now we're GO for live.
And then while live two unexpected things happened...

SO proud our daily science show is helping with lockdown homeschooling. @maddiemoate & I are blown away by the 300+ daily emails of kids' creations! 😊 Thank you!
Also, we realised that's one million PLAYS not views because often you lot watch together, as a family, or as a school, so VIEWS would actually be even more! 😮
Huge thanks to all of you who watch the show and to our small #letsgolive team of brilliant part-time freelancers: shout-out to @robjyeo's graphics, @Kalyanilodhia's production support, @KayleighKeam ideas + words, & Ed's edits. THANKS TEAM! 🙌
A thread of things I’ve been reading and watching recently that you may enjoy reading and watching yourself!

More into #sport or #engineering? ⚽️ Prof @stevehaake‘s new book tells the story of 4000 years of evolving sports tech - from golf ⛳️ to tennis 🎾 to bobsleigh ❄️.
Super interesting and written by a leader in the sports technology field (pun intended 😉)
