Gloriously nerdy tech day!! I'm upgrading the spare room studio to incl live talk back with a producer in a remote studio + more for #BigBangDigital next week. I hosted 6 daily conversations exploring how to transform our world 🌍 (each on a different @unitednations Sustainable Development Goal) plus the @FameLab UK Final LIVE from 'the spare room studio'

(continued 👇) Image The @FameLab UK Final was ambitious: finalists' presentations were pre-recorded but I suggested we do the event live so we could incorporate live comments & reveal winner live on Skype! I was handling the stream, tech, 15 VTs and doing links live from the spare room studio! 😅

Here's what happened - a mini thread for tech / live stream nerds:

Our software updated an hour before live & the new version didn't take the feeds from our DSLR (main cam)

Cue lots of troubleshooting of cables, USB ports, etc

1/n Realised old laptop had previous version of software, checked DLSR input, and bingo. So, reloaded all show assets (LOTS of videos, pics and sfx) and quickly realised it wouldn't handle the Infrared Camera + Aquascope WebCam + DLSR + laptop cam + assets 🤦‍♂️

Great to see the biggest % increase in non-compulsory #GCSE subject entires this yr was in Biology, Chemistry & Physics (as part of double award)

They were so intelligent, charismatic & funny 😂 A real inspiration & all in #scicomm could learn from them!
