I get the sense that we’re close to a shutdown resolution, and I hope I’m right.

The GOP understands — and Trump might too — that the concept of the “Wall” as a structure is never happening, and a good portion of the still base wouldn’t be happy if it did.
The promise is already broken. Trump has already walked back the concept of a “grand wall from sea to shining sea”

This will not please the Ann Coulter (read: racist) faction of the party, no matter how many “steel slats” we put up.
This was always an utterly irrelevant exercise in political theater, anyway:

Even if Congress *does* appropriate all 5 point whatever billion Trump wants, the wall isn’t getting built: it will be held up in litigation by landowners for decades.

I have a piece coming on this, hopefully later today, but I want to highlight one point re: the counterintelligence investigation bombshell:

A lot of people are talking about how big of a deal this is — and I agree — but they’re missing something:
Do you have ANY idea how hard it would be to get DOJ brass to approve a CI investigation into a sitting POTUS?

This required buy-in at the top levels of DOJ, and mounds of evidence. You thought Michael Cohen’s Office getting raided was big? This is bigger.
It also means that the possibility that there is/was at least one cooperating source in the White House, or at least the administration, has gone up significantly. The FBI was apparently getting info on POTUS’ actions in real-time. That leaves 2 options:

This Nigeria Air issue to my mind brings up another key difference between the APC and the PDP.

APC believes strongly in Big Govt - that Govt has a business with everything.

PDP (especially with OBJ) believed in Small Govt - that Govt has no business in business.
It took PDP some struggle (mostly under UMYA) before the idea of Small Govt sunk in well enough - APC is having to make the same mistakes all over again before it learns what is now becoming an Int’l lesson in nation-building:

That Govt is not always the best manager in business
It’s easier for Govt to turn itself into a huge national charity project with CCT tokenism - the hard part is Govt in businesses that require technical know-how, entrepreneurial innovation and expertise.

I guess the APC and it’s supporters will find this out the hard way.
