Re the NY “Reproductive Health” Act, lots of defenders crying out that it’s “only for the health of the mother” that late term abortions would be performed & then go on to describe tragic situations where a woman’s life was at risk. No...that was already the NY law before this...
Docs could already perform late term abortion to “save the life” of the mother. Now, “health” is added. There would be no reason for this addition if late term abortions were truly only meant for life threatening situations (that in itself is hogwash but that’s another convo...)
The obvious reason is to broaden the reasoning. “Health” is purposely subjective and in fact was defined in Doe v Bolton to mean “all factors — physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age — relevant to the wellbeing of the patient.“
Read: any reason. ANY REASON. So, to the leftists blabbering about how is pro-lifers are lying or exaggerating the implications of the bill—that it is meant to legalize abortion on demand thru all 9 months—you’re not going to win this fight. It’s infanticide & nothing less.
Also, a gentle reminder that full term abortions are performed by inducing labor, making an incision at the base of the baby’s skull and sucking the brain out until the skull collapses. But, yes, let’s talk about how abortion is self-care.
