One thing these Avenatti charges underline is that federal law enforcement can move quickly when it wants to, even in white collar matters. It appears all the charged conduct happened in March 2019. It's still March 2019.

Interesting that the Trump Campaign kept the "despite repeated offers from Russia-linked operatives" part in there. Why didn't they ever call in the FBI?
Larger point to make is these quotes mostly aren't wrong. We know significant evidence of collusion exists. We've seen some of it in court documents, judicially-approved warrants, the President's own son's emails, press accounts, etc. Barr's letter doesn't change that.
Barr's letter isn't a characterization of the evidence, a narrative account of events, or an explanation of Mueller's reasoning. It presents a couple carefully worded legal conclusions and charging decisions. It's gruel too thin to support a campaign of recriminations and purges.

The Barr report on the Mueller report.
for my money, the most dramatic news is the second paragraph on page 3 -- Barr and Rosenstein took it upon themselves to make and disclose a prosecution decision re the President's potential obstruction of justice (despite the OLC memo saying Trump can't be prosecuted in office).
This is a complicated and problematic decision for both of them. Before he took office, Barr wrote a memo preemptively attacking the obstruction component of Mueller's investigation. Rosenstein was part of the conduct (firing Comey) that the investigation would have examined.

Mueller, as of 2012 during his FBI tenure, was reportedly a regular attendee at St. John’s—the church across Lafayette park from the White House. News photographers caught him there again this morning. juicyecumenism.com/2012/08/24/vis… via @amyfiscus

@MichaelAvenatti According to the complaint filed in federal court, Avenatti told Nike attorneys by phone last week if his demands were not met, "I'll go take ten billion dollars off your client's market cap ... I'm not f*cking around."
The complaint alleges Avenatti said he'd refrain from holding a press conference, if Nike paid his client $1.5 million & agreed to "retain" him to conduct an "internal investigation," for which he and a co-conspirator would be paid "at a minimum, between $15 and $25 million."

Why file in the Northern District of CA, versus the Southern District, which covers the border? The Sierra Club is headquartered in Oakland, the ACLU noted in a call with reporters about the case today

Here's Rick Gates' now-unsealed motion to file an exhibit under seal. "The exhibit involves highly sensitive matters concerning" Gates, his lawyers wrote. The judge ordered him to file a redacted version, so we should be getting that at some point assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4368…
Rick Gates' lawyers are due in court at 10:30am for a sealed hearing on their motion to withdraw as his counsel. The exhibit that explains the reasons for that request to withdraw remains under seal.
There are a couple things going on: Rick Gates' lawyers want to withdraw. We don't know why -- the reasons are under seal. In notifying the court that they served Gates with that motion, they included an exhibit, which Gates asked to be filed under seal -- in a sealed motion 1/2
