.@DanielJHannan and @DouglasCarswell wrote a book called The Plan which proposed this process for citizens to be able to use a petition to force a referendum to veto a parliamentary bill. (1/x)
A simple binary referendum question must be offered. (2/x)
The petition must be signed by 2.5% of the electorate and they suggest an online process. (The revoke Article 50 petition easily meets this threshold.) (3/x)
Once the petition has been validated, the government may withdraw its plans. (4/x)
If they do not, they must name a date for the referendum within 100 days. (5/x)
So, @DanielJHannan and @DouglasCarswell, you have a choice between gross hypocrisy and supporting a #PeoplesVote. (6/6)

Lamont is basically saying, "Even if unicorns don't exist, it might be nice to show a 🦄 on the fan chart anyway."

Ok, I want to talk about Fury Convergence. Two disclaimers: first, this book does not stand alone very well. You don't have to have read the entire Senyaza series to understand it, but there are three books that are fairly critical backstory. They're worth reading, btw.
Second, Chrysoula is my wife, so I am biased as fuck. This isn't a review, it's a discussion of some elements of the characterization that I found really thought provoking. So if you want to know if you should read this series, my answer is 'yes, obviously' and 'don't ask me'.
There was a pivotal moment midway through the novel where I kind of gasped out loud, and said 'oh!', because I realized I'd just read something really challenging and understood something about how to relate to other humans. But here's a minimal backstory sketch:

The Labour anti-Semitism scandal has reached the point where Rachel Riley, presenter of the TV quiz show 'Countdown' is citing Chomsky and the Faurisson affair. As usual all the reactions to this are fucking terrible, so here's some quick background.
Faurisson was a well known French Holocaust denier. Here's a couple of his books to establish that for those not familiar. There are multiple obituaries online.
Chomsky is a free-speech absolutist, so similar-ish to the ACLU's defence of Nazis' right to march at Skokie in 1978, he's also been outspoken against the prosecution of holocaust deniers in France.

1.) Something that has bothered me for quite some time now is how drastically our country changed after 9/11/2001 & the events leading up to & surrounding 9/11.
The Great Lie & NATO Legal framework to start the now 17 year Afghan War in which I lost many Brothers in Arms! 😔
2.) Most of us including myself, can remember exactly where we were & the emotions we faced on September 11th, 2001. These images were forever etched into our minds & filled many with pure horror & rage! The thing we don't hear about is what events led up to this attack.
3.)The dust hadn't settled from the day prior at ground zero & the North Atlantic Council / @NATO's Secretary General Lord Robertson issues a statement from Brussels.

Reading a forthcoming book called Hitler's American Friends.

It's about the America First Committee and will probably be a worthwhile read when it comes out.

There was a lot of infighting about tone -- think alt-lite vs. alt right.
People like Charles Lindbergh were the ones who drummed up the most support for the movement. Because of their openly anti-Semitic views.

There was apparently a lot of fighting between people like Lindbergh & people who thought they should promote fascism with a friendlier tone
And there was a disinformation campaign. Apparently Americans were told that Roosevelt was secretly Jewish and had changed his name from "Rosenfeld." Wow. I did not know this.

This is great, and I'm so proud of the Koreas. Have they asked the US to withdraw their military forces yet? Cause that's the *real* result KJU and China want, diminished US influence, and they were willing to offer up peace on the peninsula to get it. Genius move by Xi, really.
Trump has acted as a catalyst to bring about this historic moment in Korea by making America seem so crazy & unpredictable as to no longer be a helpful and reliable partner but rather a liability who needs to be gotten rid of, thus diminishing long built US influence in SE Asia.
Pres Trump's erratic behavior made the spectre of a live-fire Korean war, perhaps involving nuclear weapons, seem all too real. People in South Korea were legit terrified. Xi Jinping has now offered (via his proxy KJU) a way to alleviate S Korean's fear. The US pushed, Xi pulled.

This was started when the anti-Hindu racist Periyar wrote a book criticizing Valmiki Ramayana using the fake Aryan Dravidian theory. He uses the Caldwell theory to say that Ram is an Aryan, who is an evil person acted against Dravidians. (Cont..)
He also used Lord Risely Race science theory & told Ramayana is a casteist epic, which portrays upper caste(Aryans) dominance over Shudras(Dravidians). People should know that this theory of Lord risely from which Periyar wrote such narrative was proved false by Ambedkar (Cont..)
