Next up from the JUMP JUMP division, we have the #3 seeded Spinner Dolphin hosting the #10 seed 9-banded Armadillo #2019MMM
Both have traveled through ice and fire (or at least some salt water) to get here. Well where is here? Tonight we move from Sri Lanka to the waters off the coast of the Bahamas #2019MMM
We find our little armadillo out for a swim. Sure it's not the most graceful of all swimmers, but Armadillos are actually quite adept in the water bit.ly/2CzFHn1 #2019MMM
The armadillo is bobbing along, enjoying the deep blue warm waters near some ships when suddenly BOOM! a huge crack explodes nearby and a raft of bubbles emerges #2019MMM
While not damaged per se, the armadillo is scared, what could make such a noise? The armadillo looks and sees that the ships are using compressed gas to create mini-seismic booms looking for gas and oil (image from @WCAI) #2019MMM
Below the surface, the dolphin is streaking towards the armadillo when <CRACK>! A shockwave of sonic energy rips through its delicate organs and waves of nausea and pain crash over the dolphin's body #2019MMM
The dolphin surfaces and lifts its head and neck fully out of the water, not in the usual leap of joy, this is a reaction to pain. As it lifts out of the water it sees the armadillo (bit.ly/2UaFFwc) #2019MMM
The armadillo swims towards its competitor. Now is its time, the dolphin is effectively paralyzed (automatically fails strength and dex saving throws, all hits are critical), the armadillo moves in and strikes with its claws (1d6+2) #2019MMM #dungeonmaster
Marine mammal skin is not meant to be tough, but rather smooth and slippery, as in theory, it never touches anything but water, so the armadillo's claws find purchase and rip through #2019MMM
The shock of the pain of the attack seems to revive the dolphin (it made its DC 10 CON saving throw) and it lashes around blindly trying to get its muscles working again. Finally its lungs respond and fresh air floods its body #2019MMM #dungeonmaster
The armadillo claws again and more blood is in the water. In retaliation the dolphin strikes with its tail attack (2d8+2) and squarely hits the armadillo sending it flying #2019MMM #dungeonmaster
As the armadillo swims back to meet the dolphin, the ornery Odontocete finally breaks the hold of the shock and swims towards the armadillo #2019MMM
The dolphin attacks, and the armadillo, battered and tired from the swim (2 points of exhaustion), can do little to defend itself as the dolphin bites down #2019MMM #dungeonmaster
Swimming away with another victory, the dolphin is alive, but bruised, battered and has a ringing in its ears. Yes the battle was won, but at what cost? #2019MMM
